Default Tall Driver's Test Drive

Just tested a black AT stock TC.

I'm 6'6" with a 34 inseam, which means I'm realitively well balanced btween my legs and torso (with a little extra on the torso side). And I wiegh 250 pounds. I'm a big guy. When I first got into the TC it was a squeeze. After some thorough massging I got to a place that was relatively comfortable. The windsheild is lower than I'm used to in my Ford Focus, but it provided adequate visibility. My legs bumped against the center console on the right and door on the left.

Much better car than my 2000 Focus. Better acceleration, better cornering, better styling.

After the test drive I'll probably be happy with fairly stock Scion. I'll spend on getting tinting and the lowering springs to make it look a little better. And black is where it's at.

I pulled off the drivers sun visor to improve visibility. It sound silly but it was actually blocking a lot of my view. I'm hoping someone makes some low profile replacements so I don't have to opt for a replacement seat, but dropping my head 25mm would make a big difference in visibility to me.

how much headroom did you have in the car? Did it seem like you'd smack your head hard on the roof if you had a bump at high speeds? Or a speed bump even?

I do hit my head on the driver's Oh shnit handle over the window in bumpy curves and I cannot use the moonroof cover. without rubbing. I never close it, and have lots of space before the glass.

I think you guys just sit up too straight... i'm 6'5 and I had sooo much headroom.

Just try reclining the seat a little bit... and don't worry about looking dumb doing it... if anything it would be the opposite...

As I was driving I put my hand above my head and the roof was right there. I then adjusted the angle of the seat on the fly. At first I went too low into a gangsta lean, I then split the difference, which gave me about the same visibility, but a few more inches of headroom.

If you do go with aftermarket seats, what will you go with?

Default How?

6'6"/250lbs and you fit in a tC, how is that possible? I'm 6'1"/190lbs. and my knees would hit the wheel even with the seat all the way back and declined. How do you guys drive with your knees in the air?

Just wondering... :?:

You're weird. Maybe you have giant legs and no torso...

make sure the seat is all the way down, elevation wise, then make sure it is back and reclined.

You should have more than enough room.

nope... i'm pretty proportioned... what's probably weird is seeing a guy that's 6'5" getting in a little car like the tC.

My knees were about level with the middle of the steering wheel. Well that sounds a little exaggerated, but they did hit the steering wheel.

It comes down to this. I enjoy driving smaller cars in LA. The side streets are really narrow and congested, and the freeways and main roads call for good agile handling. There aren't many options that I can actually fit into. The tC is now on my short list. Will I be as comfortable in a tC as a Mercedes E class? Probably not, but I'll have more fun driving it and I'll be able to make my payments.

that's more like it. i didn't think it was possible for you not to be touching the wheel with your legs even with the seat all the way back and reclined. i'm guessing TheBigGuyRy doesn't realize he has short legs.

I am 6'/275 lbs. I thought the TC had huge head room compared to my accord.

Felt like the interior was huge.

I tend to sit with the seat reclined alittle but not way back so I am in the "Gangsta Lean" . I am pretty heavy set... and I felt like I had enough room in the car. My legs did rub a little but I am used to that. Not going to find a car where they don't. My parents have a Chevy Tahoe and my legs rub against the counsel in it.

6'2 230 and I agree there is pleanty of room... Now if you are tall and plan on driving very long distances during the breakin period your foot is going to kill you. I drove 400 miles last night and beause I couldn't use cruise you can't exactly rest your right foot especaially if you have long legs.

Usually I just put on Cruise and extend my foot past the gas pedal but I still have another 600 to break in this puppy before I can do that.

I am 6'4" 255lb, and I was unsatisfied with the leg room. I had okay headroom, but I didn't like that my shins brushed the dash.

I guess I'm tired of being forced into putting aftermarket seats into almost every car I purchase. I've had my Corbeaus in 3 different cars in 6 years, and the poor things are finally starting to fall apart. I was hoping I could get buy without purchasing another set.

*sigh*

My right leg brushes on EVEY car with a center console, even the 4runner had this problem. The XB was excellent for leg room. No center console no problems.

If they had that xB with a 2.4L I may have gone that route. butfor $2100 nore (adding cruise to the XB) I will be happier with the TC.

Once I can start using cruise and stop having to manually control speed on long trips things will be better and I can shift my knee away from the console.

Yeah, they really don't make cars for people your size/weight. Almost seems like the big SUVs are the only ones for you (or as you have done; buying aftermarket seats).
