Default tC = Midlife Crisis Car??

Since a poll posted here shows most tC drivers in their 20's, do you youngn's see us 40+ old farts in tCs the same as, say, in a 'vette or a Mustang? To me those are total mid-life crisis mobiles! I'm 41, considering a tC, but just realized I might be ignoring this issue. (Well, I might be ok since I don't have a toupee, a dyed moustache, and I don't constantly go around asking younger women to feel my bicep.) And you fellow oldies - do you suspect you are in denial, or are you just plain cool??

PLEASE GOD SPARE ME FROM THE LIFE OF A BORING "SENSIBLE SEDAN" DRIVER!

Between you and me... shhh, don't tell anyone else. The main reason to buy this car outside of looks and what not is... INCREDIBLE VALUE.

As an older person (25+) buying this car is a fairly smart financial decision, you get a lot of bang for your buck. ANd hell, it is a fun car too.

Yeah...don't tell anyone, but I'm 38. I liked the car since the first commercial I saw back in August...(I bought mine in February of this year) The price was a big consideration, but then I drove it....fun. Plus, since Scion markets to the "boom boom music" generation, it's fun to see 'em come up beside me and be surprised to see me in it....then they wanna race. Big mistake. I got 20 years of driving experience...kid. - B-bye. - So is it a mid-life crisis car....no, It's not a bright red Boxter. If it was, we'd be having another discussion - about grecian formula and teeth whiteners.

You old farts always ask this question on here. HA, j/k!

The answer is, you're definitely not too old.

Please see the previous discussion regarding this:

I'll be 23 before I get mine ('06 this summer)!

"Midlife crisis cars" are things like Corvettes, Porsches, etc. that tend to have performance that the typical buyer will never use nor need, not to mention being flashy and drawing a lot of attention to themselves. I think the tC is about as far from that as possible.

I'm 30 (was 29 when I bought my tC) and this is my first new car. I've been into cars forever and had lots of different ones, but the tC was the first one that really appealed to me on all levels. From the first time I saw it I loved the mini-Lexus looks. It was also an unbeatable value for a loaded car which should hold its value as well as a Corolla or Camry (maybe better.)

Anyway, I guess I've had my car about 9 months now, and I still love it. Now, if they offer a factory supercharged tC with a 6-speed and other goodies... I might just have to sell this one and get a new one.

funny that you use "mini-Lexus looks" because have you seen the new IS and GS? A style very similar to the tC... I was driving to school at 6:30 am one day... and off in the incoming lane I saw what I thought was a BCP tC... but then we crossed paths... I'm like "daaaang" yeap... it's the big dog =P

41 is not too old to buy a tC. My dad, 42, was actually going to buy a tC with me, until he saw the Corolla XRS. Being that it was also BSP and a 6 speed, he had to get it (without even test driving it, just bought it off the showroom). So don't feel like it's a mid-life crisis car. My dad also has his Viper, SLK32 AMG, his 100th Anniversary Harley, and a Hemi Ram on brand new 20's, and he still would rather drive my car than any of his... It's just the draw of the tC, after you drive one, you want one...

I'll trade him my tC for any of his cars (except the Corolla .)

As it goes...

"I'd rather drive a slow car fast than a fast car"

I totally agree.

well, if you want a mid-life crisis car get a viper or something over the 80k mark, but otherwise the tc is a good choice. mine's busted atm but it'll be fixed next week.

No, the tC is still too sensible for a mid-life crisis car.

I was going to say the same thing. tC's arent midlife crisis cars they are just cars for people with great taste.

in my opinion a midlife crisis car is a really fast car that is really expensive, well the tC is niether of those, so it's not a mid life crisis car lol.

Anyone who labels a person by the car they drive, a car by the person that drives it etc is a weak minded moron... so dont worry about it. I'm 29, and the thought of whether I was too young or too old for the car never, ever even crossed my mind when buying it. Other than just joking around... are there still that many people out there that go by stereotypes like this??? If there are, and they are reading this.... PLEASE STOP BREATHING, YOU ARE WASTING OUR AIR

Really, just buy what you like, anyone who buys a car based on the image it represents is also weak. If I liked a huge buick... then I would drive that...
