Default TC AUTOMATIC MPG and NAV Insctall

Picked up my FLint TC today in Memphis and had to drive the 430 miles back to Lexington.

On the Tank the dealer gave me I averaged 31.8 mpg with AC ON the whole way ( No Cruise control used). I filled up when the light came on. I was getting scared about mile 417 but when I did it only took 12.5 gallons (and I topped it off).

This looks really good ......

I'll post some pics of the Nav system in the am. too dark for this crappy phone cam. But Performance Scion of memphis took pics and are placing them on their web site. They liked my eclipse so much they are becoming an authorized Eclipse retailer to sell them with their Scions..

FYI... The Eclipse nav units use the same plugs as the pioneer, the harness is identical. all you need to do is plug it in then connect the power speed and break light wires....

too bad the dealership forgot to tell you never top off the fuel tank. Same deal as all new Toyota's and many other new car brands. There is a charcoal filter in the filler neck.... when you top off the gas, gas splashes into the filter. When the filter is full, engine light / malfunction light comes on and the new filter is several hundred dollars and Toyota will not cover it under warranty.

can't wait to see the navi pics, how well does the unit work with the pop up door infront of the stereo?? slide out unit?

I've never heard of anything like this

Can anyone else verify/prove this statement?

OBDII, it's been like that since 1996. Also make sure you click your gas cap enough times.

The unit is an AVN2454
Sorry about the grainy pics....

I purchased the HU new on ebay from perfectseller2002
Seems like this person has a ton of these units because they were auctioning 1 per day.

I received mine in 2 days and paid $1766 shipped, the person installing charged $100. I need to go outside and look where he put the antenna... I can't find it . He ded a really good job on the install, even installed a toggel switch under the dash to trick the unit into thinking I was in park so I can play DVD's while driving.

I may pick up the optional remote and backup cam at a later date...

The DVD quality is unbelieveable. The dvd sound rocks... It is very nice...

Anyone in memphis TRI STATE auto accessories does a fantastic job installing....

mmm that's pretty tastey... I notice some kind of dark area to the right and left of the unit though... is that a gap, with nothing behind it?

How far back does the screen go?

The screen does not go back as far as the origional HU. But Far enough to close the door.

The Gaps on the top and bottom of the unit are perfect. On the left and right there is less then a 1/2 inch gap on either side.

This picture is deceptive because of the angle....

This picture is more accurate... Because the inside is all black I am going to go get some common household Black foam weatherstripping on either side (as thick as the head piece) and it will be perfect.

So can you see into the dash there on the sides? Or is there some form of plastic housing that the unit sits in?

It looks fanstastic. I'd be interested in getting one if they were so darn expensive.

*EDIT* And can you show me a pic of the toggle switch? And do you know about the wiring for that? I'd like to install something like that whenever I get around to an in-dash DVD player.

aside from this topic not being about your mpg.
The sticker says automatic gets 23 mpg.
you get 1 mpg less than the best city mpg they could possibly do. How is this surprising to you, oh yeah and if you drive like a jackass that might be part oft he problem. I just went 310 miles on 12.5 gallons.

This may seem like a newb question, but how much does GPS Service cost?

Also I'm wondering if anyone knows wtf a DVD based Nav system is. It's on Mazda 3's and I'm wondering if you need to have the map DVD in there when you're looking for a map.
