Theres beaches in Cali that let you drive on them (and set up camp). but be careful you can easily get stuck.

Hold on, let me check with my buddy............Captain Obvious says to goto a beach that allows you to drive on it. He also states that if you don't know where one is in your area, that you can ask around, or try out this dandy little site right here: http://www.google.com You should bookmark it too, it's a rather handy site.

I can't remember (its been three years since I was last there) but there are beaches where dune buggies, ATV's, and other motorized vechicles are allowed. You can also camp and build camp fires there. I wish I can remember the name of the exact beach but it was a fun trip.

I would say if you were in Florida i agree with going to Daytona. The sand is hard enough you can take your car to the beach with you. My brother does it all the time.

The sand was so soft, I got about 50 feet when I met the patrol guy, and almost didn't get out.

In Texas you can drive on the beach, but you get stuck easy... I helped dig a guy's acura out one night when he got stuck... his dumb bi*** was just sitting in the car and wouldn't even get out to make the load lighter.

In San Diego we can drive on the sand at Fiesta Island, although it surrounded by Mission Bay rather than on the ocean.
