Default tC break-in...

One of the worst days of my life:

Someone broke in my tC. Took out whole driver's side window. They didn't take anything. They just threw around all of my CD's and trashed my glove compartment. I have 20% tint all the way around and 35% tint on my windshield. They probably thought Ihad some extra stuff in it. I had to pay $250 for a new window + installation. I was sick that day, and to come out at 7am and see my window lying on the ground and my car trashed made it even worse. Sorry guys, I just had to vent...

I've always kept in mind if it can be stolen, then anyone who wants it bad enough will get it

How does GPS security work? I would imagin any GOOD car thief can find a way to disable even the most expensive/secure stuff we slap on...

My hope is if/when i buy my dream car (Mark IV supra) I'll be able to hold onto it, at least for a while....

GPS security keeps track of your car's location via satellite. I got the radio security which tracks my car via antennas and only works between Key West (most southern city of Florida and Jacksonville, which is near the northeast border of Florida). It doesn't alert you if someone has broken into your car though.

if someone steals your gps nav system and they power it up, will you be able to locate it? I am assuming so but not sure.

Err, they're different products. GPS security is a device (I found it behind my gauges) that transmits its coordinates to a satellite and the company's servers that's connected to the satellite records that info. Similar to the radio tracking security, but using antennas instead and limited on where it can be tracked. If you want to track your car, you can go to their website, log in and see where your car is.

GPS nav is just that, it helps you navigate to a destination but it doesn't have the option to track where it is on another system. I'm not too keen on the technical side of it, but my assumption of how it works is that your GPS system has a pre-loaded map of the world and every interval (every second?), the GPS nav. system queries the GPS satellite of "hey, what's my location?" then the GPS satellite will respond with the latitude and longitude coordinates, then the GPS nav. system will show you where you are on its map.

I always put my car in the garage. There was a time tho that I left it outside cause of laziness. Let me tell you, I couldnt even sleep. I woke up in the middle of the night, just to check if it's ok. I don't trust alot of people outdoors.
