Default tC Cabin Air Filter

OK, I'm sure this question is somewhere else on this site, but...

Will any Toyota cabin air filter fit the tC? I think it's ridiculous that there is a tray for one, but it wasn't included. I saw the DIY post about cutting a home furnace filter to fit the tray in the xB, and am considering doing that, but would rather take the lazy route and get a Toyota one.

Any feedback is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

The problem is that the tC was not ment to have one. I read and was told that it has something to do with the 'airflow' of our system. Our ventilation system was not designed for a filter to 'slow it down'. I was told that if you put a filter there, it can cause problems.

I dont know where you heard this, but i went to the scion dealer to get an in cabin air filter, and it was in the computer as an official part. It is the same one that fits in the xB, If its not suppost to work with the tC, then why would they put a filter tray in out car?

dont ask me. I dont know. same theory on why they put dummy holes by our outside mirror adjuster?

I don't know where you got the idea the xb was going to fit. I was told that it was the same one for the avalon and corrollas.... who knows but I plan on putting a 'thinny' filter in next week for good measures.

^^^^^^When i went to the dealer and asked for the air filter, the looked it up in the computer, and got the part #. The guy came back with the box, and it said xB on it so i was like wait a second it says xB. He tells me that they both share the same air filter, but im a little skepticle, so im like ill go outside and try it and if it doesn't work your giving me my money back. So i went outside and tried it, and it fit perfectly. So thats where i got the xB thing from

it was on the box that i threw away at the dealer since i already put it in there. You can go and call up any dealer though and it will be in their computer. Its not charcoal filtered or anything like that. Its just a paper filter that looks that the one that you put in your air intake box, nothing fancy. Its actually pretty thin, but it works at trapping dust b/c i took it out to check on it like 3 weeks after i installed it and it had a fine layer of dust on it along with some leaves that got in there somehow

well i didnt get one with my car, i shelled over another 20 bucks to get mine. Because of this topic, i actually did a search for scion cabin air filters, and...

www.wixfilters.com has made one for the scion tc, which looks much better than the one that i bought from scion. The dimentions are 2.040 X 5.905 X 11.375, so if anyone wants to check to make sure this will fit, that would be great. I wish i had seen this site before i got my filter from scion.

that filter from wix looks very similar to the one in the engine air filter.

ya, but if you saw the one that scion was offering, you'd go with that wix one in a second. you could always custom fabricate one like other poeple were doing, but i dont know how well those stop air particles once you cut them
