Default tC Or Celica

Hey guys I was just wondering if you think the tC could keep up to a new celica gts, Both would be automatics.Or if they were both stick shifts what would be quicker?

Lift is overrated. Unless you want to rev around 6200RPMs @ to reach lift. Bad torque numbers too. Camry engines have more pep than what people think.

I've heard the auto gts is a dog. My vote goes to the tC all the way- more features, comparable power and less $$$

The automatic GT Celica is actually about as fast as the automatic GT-S Celica because the GT-S does not get the extra power till Lift kicks in at high RPMS. The Automatic often shifts to the next gear before Lift is reached. If you are going to get an automatic save your money and get the GT. But I would think an Automatic tC would beat an Auto GT Celica. But I dont know that for sure.

A Stick GT-S would probably beat a tC. But not a S/C tC.

I don't know about that. The new celica I think is the slowest car I have ever driven. Hell, just a few weeks ago at the track some kid used a Stock Auto GTS as a sub car and could only run a 19.1 in the quater. I think the TC will easily get into the 17's. My $0.02

stick GTS would easily beat tC, dont know about Auto. 2zz-ge is not overrated in car that weights 2,500lbs it works beautifully... Some people think they shouldnt need to rev their engine, but Celica is the FWD sports car that weights 2,500lbs and has the best FWD suspension setup you can get anywhere... Shifting at 8,200 rpm is just an awesome feeling.

While tC is awesome vehicle, Celica is amazing little car, with only few k in mods it becomes the fwd car... S/C tC and GTS should be close, but tC will be cheaper to mod further...

what it comes down to, Celica is pure sports FWD car, while tC is more of an FWD GT car.

p.s. notice i say FWD sports car

tC stands for "teh Crap" and that's quoting myself, not cybergypsy

I have a friend who has a Celica GTS 6spd and I like it a lot. If you're going for an automatic, get the tC. It'll probably be a better bang for your buck over the GTS. I'd get a Celica GTS if manual was an option. Then again, it's all about your budget...also, the tC didn't really impress me...

An auto tc may be better off the line than aut celica gtand gts, but a gts stick will be better, no doubt. the celica will handle better than the tc if both are stock, no doubt. if both are tuned with comparable parts for suspension, the celica will still be better.
imo - my passion is for handling, as there are many cars that can go straight better(just get a stock mustang gt!). nothing like losing someone on some curves!
but bottom line get what you like. The tc is really cool, but the celica is a pretty good car in its class, but it is at the end of the model design. my 2cents

6spd gts celica owns the TC no matter how you look at it
its a pure fwd sports car as someone said already

automatic celica gts is a car toyota should have never made. doesn't complement that motor one bit but would still own the tc in an autocross

lift is NOT overrated but exactly the opposite

Guys thank you very much for all of your replies its been very helpful and interesting to hear all of your views on the subject, and to think i almost bought an auto celica gts but now i know it would of been a waist of money. But the more i think about it if i get a tC with supercharger muffler and cold air intake it would probally still be cheaper than a celica, and it wouldent perform to bad either.

your exactly right....and let me be one of the few to tell u that my last car which i totaled was a 6 speed gt-s celica and i absolutely loved it and if they werent so expensive i would have bought another one but the tC is very affordable and is gonna be well worth it for me....

they are both great cars.....

I have a 03 auto GTS, and lets just say that its really really slow... But I hear the 6spd kicks some serious ___. Personally if your going to tune you should get the 5spd GT, it takes to boost pretty well. Go check out www.newcelica.org its a cool site.

I'm getting a 5spd TC later this month and giving my celi to my mom =p

Gonna Turbo the tc so I can beat up on all the auto mustang gt's around my town

Are you serious!? 19.1!? Wow that's slow... I hit High 17's in my Manual GT and that was my first time at the track...

well thats because some people cant drive...plus it was an auto gt-s....they are butthole and u are better off getting an auto gt than an auto gt-s...

the biggest thing you will learn with a celica is that its a driver contest and there is alot of driving skills that need to be evolved with you and your celica...i became very good at driving my celica and i was running low 9's in the 1/8th with just an injen cai, aem pulley, and trd kazuma exhaust...i never got a chance to race my car at a 1/4 mile track but I guarantee I would have been hitting mid 14’s all day….the celica gt-s 6 speed is a driver’s car its not for someone who just thinks they can drive becuz I have smacked quite a few other gt-s owners who thought they could drive their vehicle…

just my .02

i thought manual gt can hit mid 15's stock under the right conditions? and manual gts would hit high 14's right?

lift would be awsome if it hit at 5000rpm till 8350rpm

it would own any car in its class then

Nothing like reading comprehension: sml27 merely forgot to put a comma in between 'supercharger' and 'muffler'...he still clearly didn't mean 'supercharged muffler'.
