My tC is going in for warranty repair. Am I going to have any issues with having a intake, aftermarket s-pipe, and catback exhaust deleting the second cat?

I know that they cannot deny as long as the issue that i'm having isn't caused by the aftermarket parts thats on the car. But can they put a note that the car is missing a cat and keep it on their records for anything later on?

Depends on the dealer. Even despite the law against it, some dealers are absolutely dicks when it comes to that stuff and will fight you every step of the way.

Then again, some are cool and really don't care - as long as its legit.

 

I was just debating wether it's worth my time to swap out the exhaust quickly and leave the intake.

 

IMO... leave it all there. If they want to fight you on it, and you know the problem is not related - you then have two options: 1) go to another dealer or 2) call Scion corporate. Hell, I'd call Scion corporate right in front of them. Ask them to hold on a minute while you give them a call...

 

Already done that once over getting my wheels replaced that another dealer I went to damaged. This is a new dealership that the car is going to.

 

You should be good.. seeing as it's a common problem with all Toyota\Scions

 

I don't know if I'd go that far... I'm over 85k and not a single issue.

 

Yeah and I really doubt that they would need to be under my car anyway.

 

They need to be under it to replace the water pump... dont they?

 

Everyone I talked to said that it comes out from the top, pull the alternator out of the way and it comes out. But I could be wrong.

 

nope, your right. For some reason I had the stupid PS pump on my mind. Hope that thing never goes.

I am at 50K+ no water pump issues.

it seems to be hit/miss with cars; some have issues some dont

 

It's a issue while it's known to happen, I don't think it's a very common thing. It's with out motor wether it in the tC, xB, Camry, or Rav4. I have seen cases of water pumps failing prematurely.
