Default tC inspiration? CRX? maybe.. take a look

It's amazing what you'll find online.. I happened to find a site from Honda (yes I know it's a scion forum, just bare with me) about the CRX.. what's amazing is that the CRX had a little known option.. An all-glass roof.. not to mention the seats (in japan) could fold down to sleep in the car (without the headrests).. sound familiar? maybe like the tC?

I had wondered why there were features of the tC that reminded me of the ol' CRX.. and now i know why.. the designers of the tC also were fond of the fun, but departed CRX.. here's a link.. hopefully it translates with google.. scroll down to see a picture of the all glass roof..

I'm sure Mercedes is also thinking they were copied by Scion too!
Notice their little hatchback with the glass roof too? That's been around for quite a few years already, actually I think it's being phased out.

I LOVED my 1985 CRX. That little car was fast and I loved the looks.

A friend of mine was stationed in Okinawa and brought a glass top '90 CRX back with him. It was such a cool car, it was converted to full Si-R spec before he bought it. It was not the quickest Civic/CRX I've ever been in, but I'm positive that it was the best handling one. I used to have a '91 Civic Si at the same time and it couldn't touch that CRX in the twistys. It got totalled less than a year after he imported it, broke my heart. The last time I saw it was about 6 months after it got wrecked I was looking for parts for my truck and I stumbled across it at the dismantling yard.

One could also say the Pontiac G6 stole the glass roof idea too.

Don't forget that Toyota and pontiac have worked together before( Matrix and Vibe) and just maybe Toyota let them use the idea .

Believe it or not, the Matrix/Vibe were my two choices, up until I first saw my tC on the show lot... then it was all over.

Not only that if you look at the new Pontiac G6 coupe, the rear looks excatly like the Solora rear, anybody else agree with me?
