tC questions
I am looking forward to getting my first car, a Scion tC 5-speed. I was wondering which performance upgrades are worth getting from Scion, the TRD parts? I am looking to get exhaust, and possible a quick shift. Are the TRD a good deal for their price or is there another type I should be looking at?
oh Boy...
all right first off don't buy anything from the dealership. You can get the samee exact pieces online for much cheaper. I personally go with TRD just because it's part of toyota andif anything goes wrong with my car they will be more linient (sp) if they see toyota aftermarket parts.
You can find PLENTY of much cheaper stuff than TRD around. Once again, the quality of it might suffer. BUT plenty of people in here can help you out with good brands for good prices.
Good luck.

Ya save yourself a bit of money and get as plain a 05 tC as you can get. TRDSparks has all the stuff you can get at the dealer but alot cheaper. Get them from there or somewhere else and install as much as you can by yourself. If you're not comfortable working with wires and taking things apart inside your car get someone else to do it. Either way it will always be cheaper than having a dealership do it.

your 16... what could you really need??? Why dont you drive the car before you decide to work on it??... You guys that are still financing your car and "modding it" are nuts. My car (07) is paid for. Cash (and I own 3 cars and a bike) .... Save up, pay your car off, THEN maybe start putting mods on.
Also, you get what you pay for.. go ahead and get EBAY parts for everything, then when it comes dented and/or scratched and missing peices... just remeber, you tried to cheap you way through yet again. Rather then supporting the dealer (hey, if you can afford the car, you can afford the dealer prices) who's parts are GUARANTEED from defect, and have PASSED quality control.
Honestly - TRD parts are the only thing going on my 07. Anything I purchase(d) is either from here (great source of NEW parts on group buys) or toyota directly.
trdsparks is a GREAT source, and it is comming from toyota essentially.
The only other recomendation I could say is use a HIGHLY REPUTABLE speed shop for your work, if your going outside the scion/toyota realm. Ive been using the same guy for 8 years who builds race prep 911's to work on my porsche.. does it cost as much as the dealer? (The answer is yes, at $85 an hour labor) BUT his work is outstanding. The main reason I dont use the dealer for the porsche, is the availability of parts. This guy has been fixing porsche's for over 30 years, and has MANY more contacts then the dealership for specialty parts.
