Default tC security system

okay i decided to place my order of the tC, so i did a search on the things i wanted on scionlife. I found an article that talks about how crappy scion/toyota alarms are, but it's a cool alarm system for the tC, rite on the key

so... to get or not to get and why?
i have... about 3 days before i place my order ^__^

Yea, the Scion Security is so not worth it. I pay $200 for my Viper alarm. Working so well, many people use it and recommended it.

I say no; not because its a bad alarm, but I work at Best Buy and have a pretty decent discount when it comes to mobile electronics, so i *may* be biased. :D

Isnt scion security comes programmed with the key though? So you dont have an extra remote hanging from the key.

Yeah but that's minor. Go ahead pay $100 plus for the Scion alarm just so you won't have an extra key, crazy in my book -- but to each his own. I take the car key off the lapse thingy that I have when I drive so it's not weighing down on the ignition. Mine was around $300 but with tax it came to $323.

Well I am about to get an 06. If the factory alarm is crap what is everybodys favorite? Looking for long range, reliable, SECURE, and NO false alarms. I had an after market Viper back in 2000 for my Focus (that I thankfully no longer have) and it got my car toed twice! I would think the quality of the install would have a lot to do with it.

Also I am really dumb when it comes to alarms. Can those just tie into the power locks and behave the EXACT same way? Like 1 cliks to unlock the drivers side and another click within 5 seconds to unlock both doors?

Also, what is the deal with the 2 way remotes with the little display on them? Are they worth it? How do they work? Even a web site link that points to how all this stuff works owuld be great. Thanks all.

scion security or aftermarket, either way your electrical system gets hacked up. so it's just matter of what you want and what you are willing to pay. just make sure if you go aftermarket you don't let just anybody do it. look for professionals. that way it gets done correctly.

I got a 2-way compustar and I love it. Has remote start, alarm, many other features, and you can hook just about anything up to it if you want. WAAY better than factory.

Default easy keyless entry to alarm mod?

i just got an 06 tC and my friend sent me this link:
http://www.customtacos.com/tech/inde...x_v2&id=12&c=6

i havent tested it yet, but seems like that is all they do, in essence, disconnecting a wire or something, what do you all think?
