tC + Snow = ??
Hey everyone, I'm looking for some insight from those who experience driving their tC in Winter.
I recently just moved to New York City for a job and to start my career in IT. I decided to leave my car in Florida for the time being until I figure out expenses and what not and the parking situation for my car. I'm living in Brooklyn and my area has alternate side parking that is strictly enforced, so I may be looking for a garage very soon to store it.
Anyways, how does the tC handle in the snow, or in cold areas with snow, sleet, ice, etc. I've never seen snow, let alone driven in it so I'm just curious about how well it will do. Also, I don't think NYC get's too crazy with snow, but would you recommend some snow tires also?
Any advice or opinions are welcome!
OH, and if anyone knows of some good parking deals in NYC I'm all ears as well
Thanks,
Kevin

tC + Snow = LOL
Get different tires, preferably all-season ones. I've ended up backwards a couple times on the stock ones. TireRack will give you a good recommendation on tires; go to your local tire dealers and find the cheapest price for the best you find.

new york city does indeed get crazy winters, take it from someone who lives in NYC(me!)
im in staten island..and we sure get our fair share, as does brooklyn...
but as long as youre not lowered....it handles just fine..you just have to adjust you speed, you cant go regular speed in snow
now if your lowered and never got an alignment, then its going to be more difficult to drive....but still, not impossible...i had my tc thru 2 winters so far lowered....and im fine....and on stock tires btw

ice is the killer the on/off ramps anything that has a slope or incline as well, like chrisb319 say TIRES count big time but also the abs and stability control come into play. be aware that we also have rim killing potholes, sewer caps and storm drains get knock open by the snowplows. best to pay attention to that stuff
make note of you best none touch car wash too.
on the inside of the car never leave any full soda cans. they freeze and cover the insides of car.
a clear front end bra might be a good investment some townships have switch from salt to lava rock cheap but bad for the paint

bridgestone blizzaks, get them. seriously. um, if youre manual and start going in the direction you dont want to go, hit the clutch. dont slam brakes. get some hids, they look amazing on the snow
NYC is a hit and miss for snow. we did haev some crazy winters here where the snow can cover your car. just take your time driving and keep a distance to break. BLACK ICE is the killer. the roads may seem normal but it is frozen over and if you hit a patch of that going fast you will spin out.
don't be fast (go the speed limit or 5 below it), drive carefully (beware of your surroundings), leave enough room for stopping distance. and if you do have to brake hard and it locks up, remember pump the brakes so can gain control of them again.
you can also try using the e brake in emergencies too i guess lol..
but so far driving in the snow with the tc is ok. its better then my altima

probably wouldve helped if i gave some pointers too haha
like said earlier..
drive under the speed limit on a decent day ill do like 5 under but on days when its snowing or when i know theres ice ill drive like 10 or even slower..
leave plenty of room like a car/ car and a half of space between the car in front..just in case and pay attention to your surroundings (im always looking all around for the idiots who think just cuz they have a truck with studs it means they can drive like its summer)
if you do end up slipping a lil dont panic.. just stay calm and gain control.
theres more stuff but cant think of any right now..

If you haven't ever driven in the snow, I'd recommend some snow tires for added stability. The tC does pretty well with just a good set of all season tires but with the inexperience, the added grip will help you out quite a bit, I think.
