Default No...

No a full size will not fit . The spare tire well is not deep enough. the cover board will be sitting up in the air if you do this.

The doughnuts are significantly thinner. But there is a little tray full of tools that sits on top of the doughnut. I think it might be possible to fit a 17" in, but you might need to go to a thinner wheel and tire to do it. I don't think you could fit a 215/45-17 in there, but maybe something like a 195/65-17 or something.

A stock wheel and tire will not fit properly in the back. It will sit in the well where the temporary spare goes, but you will not be able to re-fit the cover because the wheel sits up too high. I know this from experience as I had a flat, used the spare and put the flat tire in the back. It's probably a good 4-5 inches too tall.

Also, if it would fit, the manual would tell us that. Instead they provide us with a special strap and tie down system. In the event of a flat, you're supposed to put your tire in the trunk on top of the cover and use that special strap system to secure it so it doesn't end up flying through your window or something.

Yeah, the spare unfortunately is a doughnut but you saved all the money on the price of the car by getting it that way. Still wish I had a full-size on though.

Part of me wishes it was full size. The other part of me is glad it's small. I have gotten a flat once in my life, so I don't plan on using it much, and I'd rather save the money, space, and weight by having the doughnut.

Hrmmms that's really bad, it's a shame that Toyota didn't make it large enough to fit the full size spare... I'm sure there is a way around it though

Yeah a full size definitely will not fit...that's why they give you the tie downs for if you get a flat. It's in the manual!!

Great idea... Except if you speed on a doughnut, you'll probably melt the glue holding the rubber doughnut 'tire' to the hub.

I don't really know what you're saying here (what explains what about the spare?) but the car does not have tire pressure sensors. It uses the ABS sensors to measure the revolutions of each wheel and if one is different it knows that tire has lost enough air to reduce its overall diameter, then it turns on the warning light.

Hahahaha! I know, when I pulled it out to check the air for the first time I was shocked, disgusted, whatever all at the same time. I thought I was the only one who had that yellow hub.

I hate the spare tire, like...unlike other cars where it's just plain black, ours has to be the ugliest color! freakin peach...
