Default tc or tiburon v6

tc or tiburon v6...

here in puerto rico they are both the same price. the tiburon has the 10 year 100,000 mile garante, and the tc I think it is 3 year 36,000 miles.

not sure...

Resale value of the tC is INSANELY better than the Tiburon... It sells WAY more than the Tiburon, and is ranked higher, I believe, on best buys as well...

Plus, Your on Scionlife.com, so for that.... I MUST say the tC...

pasa un jueves por el parking de rooms 2 go en las americas pa que te enamores de los tC's

Go tC it's still a toyota engine plus Tiburon v6 is not that fast!! They start pulling on us when in 4th or 5th gear depending on the driver and if you get a bad one they're smoked!!

Don't forget Road & Track's data that you've got hosted here at SL. They stated 7.4 0-60 and 15.6, same as you listed for the Tib.

To the OP, I looked at the Tib briefly, but felt the tC was a better car, so I bought one. Best all-around value for less than $20k out the door = tC!

If your in Puerto Rico, get a Tiburon. NGM makes an Assassian Supercharger kit, that puts those things into the low 12's reliably.

Well, the v6 in the tib. is only rated at 172 hp with 181 ft-lbs of torque (numbers off edmunds.com) only about 10 more horespower then the tC, however it does not weigh much more then the tC (about 60lbs?). Depending on gearing, tires and other factors, the tiburon should technically be quicker. This is also supported by car and drivers tests which are as follows..

Hyundai Tiburon GT V-6 (5/02)
0-60mph.....7.1 seconds
1/4 mile.......15.6 seconds
top speed of 132 mph
70-0mph.... 193ft
.82g road holding
18mpg city

Scion tC (8/04)
0-60mph.....7.4 seconds
1/4 mile.......15.7 seconds
top speed of 127 mph
70-0mph.... 179ft
.81g road holding
22mpg city

So not a huge difference, higher quality tires for one could make up the time gaps..however this is no gaurentee that the cars were tested in exact conditions.. but I trust car and driver not to post up off the wall bogus numbers.

Comfort is on you. Some people don't care that the tiburon is badged as a hyundai and love it for its great warranty (BIG plus) and sporty nature. Personally, I prefer the tC just because I was dissapointed with the V-6 in the tib. I can not comment too much on drivers feel as I was passenger, interior was okay to me.

my .02 now, for the money I would look into a Civic SI if you can get one at msrp, $20k. Only a few bills more then the tib. and tC in your case, but you get a great package. Wonderful 197 hp vtec motor with enough torque to get ya around, regardless of what other people say obviously it isn't going to have torque out the ying yang like a V-8 it is an inline 4! one designed to be quick in the upper rpm's at that. With an LSD and well tuned suspension and transmission, it is quite a ride.

Why don't I get one? Because they can't be had for msrp here in socal, and the price diff. between a spec tC and civic SI is enough to close the performance gap...and then leave the SI in the dust![/i]

Let me shed some light on that warranty... I used to sell KIA, same brand, and to keep that warranty you need to do "regular" maint. which includes changing your timing belt i think every 30000 miles. That is a very expensive endevour. Toyota is somethin insane like 90-100k miles. And as for the better of the two cars the tC is WAY more comfortable in the long run, it is more fun to drive, and it has higher resale(thanks toyota!!!). So my bet is the tC of course!
