Are you POSITIVE that the pole is owned by LIPA? Some poles are owned by Cablevision and Verizon as well.

PS: I'm a utility inspector for Verizon in the city, this is why I ask.

the police report says that it's a LIPA pole. i didn't know who's pole it was, but they told me at the scene that it's not a county or town of north hempstead problem. on the part of the mv104 form, they wrote LIPA as owner. at least it's a property damage issue, which means my insurance won't go up. that's the key-i had a bunch of accidents and wrecks almost 3 years ago, so i'm in assigned risk. the 3 years time period was supposed to expire on Nov21st-which was why i thought about not going thru insurance at first. now that i know it won't affect my rates and isn't listed as a auto collision, i don't care if the insurance company got involved. they'll cover any medical bills, deal with LIPA, and everything else. i wish i had gotten gap insurance when i bought the policy, but i didn't. from now on-i'm gonna make sure i get that.

pretty sure that they will see that you are fine and give you less money for this. Go there in agony and look like your steamed that you almost got killed. Keep mentioning that you almost got killed and I bet you will get more money. But don't over do it.
