only reason i know, is cause i have a b16a swapped into my 97 civic hatchback.

160chp in a 2200lb car vs 160chp in a 2900lb car, its a no brainer.

and no, not all honda's are rice, alot are, but not ALL.

i mean, is my car rice?

http://batmangek.mazsports.com

im pushing about 175whp right now, but the car is getting tuned next friday.
i should be running mid to low 14's all day after the tune is done.

im looking into getting a tC this summer cause my car lacks a/c.
living in tucson with no a/c... is a bad idea!

so i plan on ridding of the civic this summer and possibly getting a tC.
i like the tC's very much, tons of mods will be available, and its toyotabased, very reliable. plus... its not stupid expensive.

so, hopefully i will be joining you guys later this summer.
Not really... your more like 2300lbs then you have to make sure your not 200lbs already. Plus your killer stereo system that takes another 100lbs. =P

heh, no.

the car is a 97 civic DX, so already it weights way less then a hatch with power windows, etc.

its around 2300 stock.

my car has no a/c, no power steering, a hood that litterally weighs... 5-10lbs.
(fiber images cf hoods kickass, thats why their $700+ :O )

so thats around 100lbs off the stock weight already.

my car weighs around 2200lbs, and i weigh about 150. so, with me in the car, its about 2350lbs, with about 175whp, dynoed. its a great car for racing, but for general use.... it gets old quick.

i mean... there is no comfort, have you ever been in a honda with a b16a, header, and cat back... talk about LOUD!

but my car does scream, it really does haul some ___, its great for what its built for.

but id rather have the tC as my everyday use car, with my getting a house this summer, a tC suits me better, as i will have $0 for modding.

I'll add something to this since I actually know what I'm talking about. The Vtec Del Sol is actually about 2500 lb's. It runs 0-60 in 7.4 seconds. So from a dead stop it is very similar to a TC to 60. The reason it isn't faster is that it has only 111lb-ft of torque, skinny tires and it's pretty light. Another words not much torque combined with not much traction. But, the way the race was described the del sol would have walked all over the Tc. On the freeway from say 60 to 100 the traction and torque deficits wouldn't matter and the del sol would be up in the rev range it needs to be. The Tc would see nothing but tailights. The other thing is that Vtec Del Sols are pretty rare and I doubt the guy was racing one. It's also pretty likely that any one you see will be modified so save yourself some embarrassment and don't try to race them.

I used to drive a del sol and I wish I still did. That's another story though.

word.

b16 have no god damn torque, i mean... none.
but once they engage vtec... its literally a whole different story.

honda's get beat off the line all the time... but give it about 5 seconds... you'll see nothing but tail lights.

with my skunk2 stage 2 cams, skunk2 valve springs, my redline is about 9.5k

vtec engages around 5500rpm for me, so from 5500rpm to about 9.5k... its valves open and im gone!

i'll post a video for you guys so you can hear what it sounds like from within the cab, you'll also see why i would love a tc.... its so god damn loud!

Definitely Batmang and PmScion definitely know what's going.

But to further clarify PmScion a little (for those that don't know Honda's to well) when he means Del Sol VTEC he's sayin B16A DOHC as the Del Sol Si SOHC came with VTEC too but that engine (D16Z6) was definitely not the way to push the name VTEC.

Anyway I can't stand Del Sol's (sorry PMScion) in my CRX circle they call them Del Slo's
But against a TC they are anything but that. Well unless you are dealing with the lowest model but the Si with mods would give the TC a run for it's money and the B16A would show nothing but taillights.

Props to Batmang for his tight EK and his defense to not all honda owners being ricers. But yes Honda's are played out.

As for me I got a xB and CRX HF with you guessed it a B16A.

1950lbs with 170hp is no joke!!!

Even My 1996 I4 Camry Coupe 5-speed, kicked the ____ out of my friends Del Sol, I raced him within the first month of learning stick, and even with his better launch, I killed him right from the start, he was so far behind, he didn't even try, after I was about 300 ft in front of him. Del Sols are just sporty looking civics, they aren't that fast, they do handle somewhat nice, due to their lower stance. But with the top off you can really feel how much more unstable it is compared to with the top on. Those cars are just little _____ mobiles that look ok, (in a ___ way). When I first got my Camry he ____ over it, saying its a Family Sedan, with two doors, and saying how it can't handle that well, and just sucks. Well, after that race and last winter, when my car would go through all types of snow with no problem, and he was all over the road, and was even afraid to drive his car some days. He even ended up calling me up to drive him to school since he didn't trust his car in the winter. And now I always drive places since his car turned into a ____ hole. So anyway after that vent about the Del Sol, let me just say that TOYOTA's are AWSOME, and any brand that they make is GREAT TOO!!! I hope my next car is either a tC or a new Solara, I know I will stay in the Toyota family for a very long time

I'm not sure if that's an H22 it may be a B18 cuz that thing sounds like it revs to like 8 or 9000 RPMS. I'm not sure if H22s rev that high but I don't know anything its just my opinion.

looking at the vid. the engine is definitely not a B18b. my guess would be it is either a B18C1(gsr) with a B18c5 intake manifold, or just a B18C5(integra type r)
