tc vs friends 1992 240sx
i have a scion tc 5-spd base and he has a 1992 nissan 240sx with 175,000miles, a vlsd, custom intake and custom crush bended exhaust, short shifter. do you think think i can beat this car in a drag race.
no it is actually a pretty hot car the lsd he has made the grear ratio wide so alll im worried about is i have to shift to 3 just to get to 60 and he only has to get into 2nd. he is a good driver but im planimng on pulling on him in 3rd. if i can get a good launch on him.
slip the clutch. due to our cars being front wheel, there is alot of wheel hop. but every driver has his or her own way of launching their cars. but from experience i found that on FF cars slipping the clutch is the best way for me. unless you have a strong clutch/axels/tires.
depends on how good of a driver you are and the other dude is...
reason why youll most likely lose is because the 240sx is rear wheel drive. he takes off better than you....
install a damper kit, coil over kit, or something....

assuming drivers are equal...then im thinking the tC would win. the old KA24DE's (155hp) dont share nearly as pleasant of a torque curve as the 2AZ-FE's (160hp) produce because of the variable valve timing. the 240sx is also gunna lose a higher percentage of its power through the drive shaft because its RWD. there is only a minute weight difference between the cars...maybe 200 lbs max. and as far as the launch goes...with decent tires neither car has enough power to where traction is gunna be an issue (if the driver has any clue how to launch).
i currently own both cars but mine is a '93.

i have been wondering the same thing. to me it feels like my tC is a little faster but it's close. it may just feel faster cuz it's new and shifts better. and i think it definitely would be if the TC stock air box and exhaust weren't so damn restrictive. if you're going in a straight line i think it would be pretty close. trust me the 240 would OWN you around curves.
just like someone else said, it is about 12 years old and may not be as efficient as it once was as far as HP goes, but this all depends on how it has been maintained. and the VLSD will definitely help him out.
only one way to find out. race him and please let us all know the outcome.

and i own a s13 240sx, but its only got a ka24e...for some reason i have a feeling that the 240 would edge you out, but i think this is more of a drivers race. what you should do is race once and then switch cars and race again.
