Default tC windshield problems

Does anyone else have lots of pits in the windshield. It looks like it has been sandblasted. You are able to see all the imperfections especially when light shines through at a certain angle. I have also found my windshield has some larger chips in it as well. It is very annoying and distracting and I don't enjoy driving my new car as much as I should.

I have had cars that have been 15 years old and the windshield didn't look as bad as this and I just got my car in April. Is this glass softer or something? I can only imagine what the salt is going to do to it in winter. I have not had any rock hit my windshield either so this must be from very tiny debris that shouldn't affect the integrity of the windshield.

If anybody is experiencing similar problems or can help please let me know. Thank you.

TONS of pitting. They used really cheap glass.

You can wax it or use a windshield repair kit. Time consuming, but I need to get around to doing it myself.

I'm sure there a few other threads about it.

I actually took it to a glass repair shop and also called a few of the mobile ones. All they were able to do was fill the pit with a resin and then use a UV light for it to cure. All it did was make the pits flush again with the rest of the glass but it still looks the same from the inside. I still see them and they still are in my view. They are not bullseyes or stars or anything just pits and little chips.

If I replace the glass I should just do it through insurance or inquire about it at the dealership? Maybe even the third party glass you get when they replace it is better than this OEM glass.

I searched but mostly xB topics on this so keep the glass talk coming.

i really think its a toyota thing when it comes to the glass. I had 2 Celicas befor the tC and they had the same problem. I had to finally replace the window on the last one, I couldn't drive home in the morning from work. The sun glare was made worse by all the pits in the glass.. now i'm starting to see the same thing on the tC. i might have the glass replaced in the summer.

So apparantly Toyota used crappy paint and glass for our cars?....Niiiice. If you take it to an auto glass shop, the quality will probably be better than OEM. See if your insurance will cover it. If not, should run you about $250-300

when i got my car the windshield was cracked all over the place looked rather bad. but due to texas law they couldn't sell it like that without replacing the windshield. so about a week later it was done. if you bought it like that from the dealership see if your local laws say they(the dealership) has to replace it, otherwise if you have full coverage your insurace company might end up covering it for you. check with them as well.
