Question from tC to xB?

How many people have gone from owning a tC to an xB? (or vice versa)(either switching, or adding on) Just basically want to know if there are any regrets.

I'm thinking of trading in my tC for an xB2. I've always liked the xB2's since they came out, and I'm not finding the tC very "family friendly". When I bought the tC 3 years ago, I wanted a new car that was reliable and had decent mpg's. I'm not a 2 door kinda guy, but dug the tC. Then, when I saw the rs3...I basically fell in love with it. But, A wife and a kid later...I'm thinkin its time to move on. (esp since I'm sure baby #2 will be happening in the near future) I mean, seriously...has anyone else tried putting a rear facing carseat in there???

so anyways, if anyone falls into this category in question...please share your thoughts/experiences/feelings/concerns/opinions/ideas/criticism...

(also, if this needs to be in the xb2 forum...let me know or feel free to make the switch...or I can just repost in said forum)

You'll lose the aggressive styling you had with the tC. The xB can still be aggressive, but you'll want to mod it for sure if you want to go that route. That's exactly what I did with mine.

The xB2 is really comfortable and handles well. It also has pretty decent acceleration, and fuel economy isn't terrible.

I'd suggest taking it for a spin the next time you're at a dealership to see if it's what you want.

First mods you'll need:
- Tanabe NF210 springs (comfortable ride for wife and kid)
- Wheels (18" max for comfortable ride)
- Spoiler (car is ugly as hell without it)

Then go from there. Test drive to see if you like it. I fell in love with my 08 xB when I first bought it. So hopefully you'll like yours if you get it.

EDIT:
If you want pics of my xB, check out my garage by clicking on my username to the left of this post. Modded xB's look a lot better than modded tC's IMO.

I had to take my 10 month nephew to the ER in the tC. I can't see how anyone can fit a rear facing seat in there. My sister had to sit back there with him and that made matters worse. If I had more than myself and the girlfriend on a regular basis I wouldn't own two 2-door cars. I'm considering swapping the tC for a first gen because of the MPG and added cargo.

with it rear facing, I had to put it in the center, and you were unable to lean the seats back to their normal position. With it forward facing, its not that bad with it sitting in one seat off to the side. The hard part is putting the kid in there! leaning over, plopping him in the seat, then you have to crouch down into the floor board to strap him down... luckily we cart the family around in our camry nearly all the time.

There was a white 2010 xB in the alley next to where I was working today. I just kinda stood there staring at it for a while i think the best xB color has to be the teal though... at least thats my fav Ive seen.

In your case, I think it is a better idea to get the xB2 unless you have the money for a bigger car. I mean its understandable that there are going to be regrets about switching cars, but at this point it comes down to your family and having it safer and more comfortable for you wife and kid(s).

I think we've decided to stick it out w/ the camry and tc till the tc is paid off. If our 98 camry can hold out another year or two then we can drop the camry, move up to a bigger family vehicle, and keep the tc since it'll be paid off, still fairly new, and thus more reliable than the ol camry. How's that for a run on sentence. Thanks for the input on the xB2 too... I can still dream.
