RX-8, 1.3L and 238 HP
Take two 13B moters and put em together...NA = 500HP at 2.6L
Some people have taken stock import Turbo 2 RX-7's from japan and crank up the boost to make about 500-600HP. Again out of 1.3L

Rotary's, proof that displacement means NOTHING!!!

And rice tastes good, I could eat it at every meal.
To each his own, people do things to please themselves and not the peple around them. It doesn't hurt you when people 'rice' out thier cars so you really have no say. I am sure you spend money on things that other people would hold the same disgust that you hold for people 'riceing' out thier cars.

that 1.3 liter engine can be argued to be a 2.6 liter engine though, so be careful, just because the specs say its a 1.3L doesnt mean it is. If you realllly research and understand how rotarys work, you'll see what i am saying, but im sure we'll save this conversation for another thread

I know how rotary's work, and you can argue all you want that it is really a 2.6, however, in actual metal it is only 1.3L.

the very definition of rice can be widely interpreted: what one thinks is ricey another finds acceptable

Personally i believe anything done in a tasteful manner is non-rice. ie clean drop, proportional spoiler, intake/exhaust (non-beehive), hid/upgrade bulbs, etc

Basically anything that looks like something a high-end car owner would do (bmw, lexus, mercedes, audi...)

rice usually means adding things to a car that serve no function other than being tacky.. LED washer lights and spinner hub-caps for example.

Who really cares?? Let a person do what they want with their ride. I am into clean, nice looking mods and doing a lot of my own electronics design when I have the time. I dont like body kits, wings, underbody, etc... but that is MY car, I could really care less what others do to thiers. Seems like a lot of worry energy going to nothing.

yep, a lot of kids worried about what others think, or that someone may give the image of thier car a "bad name"..... instead of just enjoying themselves and their car... sad I tell you.

yah know. The tC is a 4 cyl, but its a large 4 cylinder, with pretty stout internals out of the factory. There are PLENTY of vehicles that weigh 3,500+ lbs with 300 hp that people consider a "Sports Car" so if you can get the tC with few aftermarket parts down to 2800 lbs and add some power mods to even 300 crank HP (wich is easy enough with so many turbo kits out there now) and still be below the 30k mark.. I don't see why you can't see the enjoyment in tuning out 4 cylinder cars.

The tC will never be "rice" to that of the Cvic, Integra, and Eclipse.

Every tC I have seen has been bone stock. I wouldnt worry. People see one "riced" out tC they think that at every street corner there will be one.

The tC was the new ricer care before it was released. Its a "sporty import" that is cheap... what do you think is going to happen? Plus w/ all the tacky ___ aftermarket accessories, its only natural.

However, luckily, the Scion brand is a "cool" for a lack of a better term, so souping one up (in a non-ricer way) I would think will be more acceptible than a 4 door honda civic.

Who knows... who cares.

I've had both and many other cars, and they all were fun in their own way.
