I pay $750 for 6 months but I'm 23 so that may make a difference.

I think buying this car was hands down one of the worst decisions in my life. Its been a complete nightmare from the moment I stepped into the dealership until now. I could not recommend a Scion to anyone. Even if the product was decent, the company does not take care of customers.

If you do get one, even after all the documented issues then I suggest you have some money saved away for a lawyer if you have to take Scion to court and to pay for all the time/inconvience caused from the issues from the car.

Make sure to test drive all the other vehicles in the same class before you buy. My dad wouldn't let me and he stuck me with this car. I love it and all but I'm somewhat dissapointed.

you are right about tha dealers not wanting to or even knowing how to make you happy.this is the 12th toyota i have owned and i think the scion is going to be tha one that i will have to sue tha dealer about. hope not because i really like my ride.i have a camo xb and it is a cool ride, but i have taken it back to my lame dealer for 2 very minor things and they said live with it they all do that! tha last time i heard that from the dealer was in 1972 when i bougtht a vega gt. a real piece of junk. toyota will screw itself if they dont get their ____ together.

WOW, what is everyones problem. This is the best car I have ever own...ok, so I have only owned three other cars...an hyundai excel, Neon and an Mustang. But this by far has been best car. For $17,265, no other car even came close.

The buying experience at my dealer was a total joy, I never thought a would say that about a dealer but its true, although I did visit other dealers that were not as good. I walked in, told them what I wanted and a little over a week later, it was here, even earlier than it was supposed to be here.

So far, the car is great. It drives better than any of my other cars. Its smooth, comfortable and has more than enough power for my city driving.

I honestly can't find any problems with the car. I do have some suggestions on making the car better but I don't see them as problems. Keep in mind, these are REALLY minor.

1. Radio controls and gauges are hard to read at times, it has not really bothered me but they could be better.
2. Radio cover was not needed, I like it but I feel I am going to end up breaking it so I just leave it open.
3. Roller shades are a little cheap for the sunroof but there are not many options with the dual sunroofs so it was either that or nothing. I leave it open all the time anyway.
4. Pillars in the front window are a little large and creates blind spots. Some also feel the same about the back but I have not had a problem since it is not any worse than my mustang was. Yes the pillars in the front bothered me the couple of days but I have gotten used to them now so I really don't think about it.

Honestly, that is all I could come up with...again I don't see them a problems so much as suggestions in the future. I would give the TC a 95 out of 100. Just as reference, I would have given my mustang an 80, the Neon a 65 and the Hyundai a 5, piece of crap.

This car is a dream for a little over $17k

As for insurance, I am paying 610 every six month and found it to be inline with the civic and other cars in it class.

I doubt you will find a better value for the money. I have owned many, many cars.

I'm hoping that when mine gets comes it doesn't have the problems that Nick's has had. Nick knows his cars too so it's definately not something that he has done on his end. There are just going to be lemons in every batch and new cars typically have more.

Also, I was not bashing the tC. I love my car just what happens if he falls in love with one of the other cars? He may not like how the tC rides or how big it is for example.

Its one thing to have a car with some issues. I've had many cars and almost all have had a few issues, but the dealer quickly, politely, respectfully took care of any issues or concerns. Scion on the other hand has been nothing but a nightmare. Nothing but broken promises and empty words. You can tell me 50 times that you'll look into it, or see what you can do, but when nothing happens for over 3 months, and it starts to affect my school, job and personal life its crossed the line into not just a poor car, but a poor company. Even if someone got a "good" tc, I would not want to have them ever deal with scion, service, or the company because if an issue did arrise, they simply don't have the means to help a customer out.

As for better values, better cars, thats all subjective. Several of my friends have 5-10 year old hondas/acuras that have far less issues, drive better, handle better, and can be had for much less money. While they may not be new cars, even with 100k+ miles they are in better shape than my 3 month old scion. They run better, shift better, hold up better, don't rattle, handle better, have better power, and do just about everything better.

Every single time I get in my car, I get fustrated.

Yes every car has its issues and well that can be expected. But in your case it really sounds like the dealer is your biggest problem. I went to one dealer before I decided on a Scions (was comparing with Honda, Mazda), I quickly felt as if all 3 sales men I dealt with pushed me away from the Scions to the Toyota side of the cars, not to mention they were practically hiding the Scions in the back.

(Fast forward)

I left and went to another Scion dealership and a total difference in atmosphere, I felt my sales person bent over backwards to help me find my vehicle even when I was undecided. Since my purchase (one month) I’ve received 3 phone calls from the dealership, one being from my sales person. All were to verify that I am satisfied and if anything can be done to assist me. Yesterday Scion head quarters gave me a call (and I would guess some of you too) for a satisfaction survey and voiced my opinion about both dealerships.

At least for this moment in time I do feel Toyota is making an effort to make Scion a long term line, with the solid purchasing experience I had on this time.

What problems are you having? I did a searc on previous posts and I know about the paint chip problem you've been having. Is there anything else you could list besides that? Is it the car itself or Scion service?

In 5 to 10 years there will be thousands of people who have scion tC's that "have far less issues, drive better, handle better," etc.

I've had absolutely no problems with my tC. I'm sorry you've had such a bad time with your car but it doesn't mean that all tCs are bad. every time something is mass produced on an assembly line there are going to be problems. you're one of thousands of tC owners. I've had no strange sounds or rattles, no blistering of anything, no falling apart of this or that. I love my tC. it's exactly as it should be and more. there are many on this site who would say the same.

perhaps all the time you spend bashing the tC on this forum would be better spent dealing with your dealer to fix your tC's "problems." there are also many dealers on this forum who, I'm sure, would give you contact information to help get your "problems" resolved.

Every single time I see someone crying "Victim," I get frustrated.

I would've demanded a new car EONS ago. I would have told them that the vehicle is "not satisfactory to the conditions of a new car."

Honestly, and I know you've been told this before, check out your state lemon law. Here's a link:

http://www.nationallemonlawcenter.com/arizona/

Also, while I was searching, I found some attorneys in AZ that take lemon-law cases without charging attorneys fees (and give free consultations). You might want to speak with one of them to see where it is you stand. It couldn't hurt to talk to someone about your rights.

Also, I looked in the contracts that I signed at the dealer and this is what I found (I'm in TX, by the way, but contracts are the same for the most part):

NO COOLING OFF PERIOD
State law does not provide for a "cooling off" or cancellation period for this sale. After you sign this contract, you may only cancel it if the seller agrees or for legal cause. You cannot cancel this contract simply because you change your mind. This notice does not apply to home solicitation sales.

To contact...(dealer)...about this account call...(number). This contract is subject in whole or in part to Texas law which is enforced by the Consumer Credit Commissioner...(Address/phone numbers)...and can be contacted relative to any inquiries or complaints.

What I mean by this is that there are ways that you can get out of your car. If the dealer is aware of all the problems (which they are), you can demand that they refund your money or replace the vehicle. You can prove that a significant amount of time has passed and what work has yet to be done. If you cannot come to a resolution that way, contact your state's Consumer Credit Commissioner and see where that leads. Warranty work should be done in a timely manner, and not pushed off to the side with a "we'll get to it when we can" attitude.

And this was a new car, after all. It shouldn't have problems for a while, at least. (Stress this point to no end!!!)

oh, and Bubba, I was in love with my car from the moment I drove it off the lot. straight stock it handled well and accelerated well. it was almost torture keeping it under 4000 RPMs during the break in period. mind you, I don't drive like a maniac, but I do like to accelerate quickly on occasion (especially merging on the freeway.) once it was broken in, I was smiling the whole time I was behind the wheel. since I've gotten the suspension mods I love it even more. it handles oh so much better (on rails, dude) and it looks so sweet.

I agree with MrJohnson...drive some other cars if you're interested in them. but if you like the look of the tC and like the way it drives then get it. you won't be sorry, no matter what anyone else has to say.

Bubba,
I honestly could not be happier with my car. Everytime I go outside to get in my car I get excited and say "Hey baby!" as I approach it. :D :D It's a blast to drive. I can't say enough things about it. When I was driving it today, I said "I'm sooo glad I got this car...it's the coolest thing ever!" I know some people have had problems with their cars, but I guess I got lucky.

Make a list of possible cars that you wouldn't mind having, and then look at them all (at the dealers) and narrow it down (what do you like? what don't you like?). Also, the tC is on a major wait list, so if you do decide on a tC, expect to wait a while for your car.

i agree.... it was a painful time trying to break in the motor because i had no patience.

but when it was broken in, i started to do things a little more wildly so i launched it at stop light today with no one around me for the hell of it at 4k and i did a little burnout. it has good torque for a car of its class and im finally starting to see why i bought this car in this first place. i've had ZERO problems whatsoever.

its a pretty fun car :D
