Thinking of ditching the scion security
I am contemplating going with an aftermarket alarm as the scion security doesn't impress me. What I am wondering is do you guys think the factory alarm would be that hard to remove? I'm wondering how much the dealer would charge to remove it. It's just a thought ... just would like to get some opinions on the whole ordeal.

cut power(constant wire) and ground...
and you can keep the relay for ur after market...so far the xB's needed a relay or a diode for there dim lights...
and keep in mind....use the same wire taps the dealer used..much convienient and it'll save u plenty of time so u dont gotta dig around with your test light looking for the parking lights, door triggers, unlock wires and so on...
but if ur installin a remotestart... u juss gotta bypass clutch(manual) brake and tachometer.. but then again i;m not sure if TC's need key sense also..xA dont..but xB's do!
let see what else...thats about it..have fun...ohh yeah 1 more thing make sure ur AFTER MARKET ALARAM IS DEI...clifford, viper, blackwidow, python, etc...DEI is very important in car alarms!!!!!
im an CAR ELECTRONICS INSTALL TECH...soon to be MECP
Why dont you like it? Not bashing , just curious.
I personally hate car alarms that are oversensitive, and ones that make stupid noises everytime I arm/disarm them. This one repeatedly locks the doors, honks the horn, and kills the starter if an intrusion occurs. Plus, if it gets stolen within one year of installing the alarm.. they pay your deductable.

I really like the security feature on the tC. It works pretty well if you ask me. Hit the glass hard enough and it goes off. Like you said, no annoying beeps.
I'd keep it. I mean, it's already on there and factory installed.
I actually just had mine installed today. I saw this thread before I left and got kind of worried that maybe there was some crazy feature I didn't know about. But really I don't see a problem with it. If it helps me that little bit on my insurance, I love that part too.

I found an old thread on the clubsciontc.com forums that suggested Scion left it out on purpose and no one seemed to be sure if you could do it or not.

wow. . . someone really wants to get banned. . . I did a post a way long time ago. . . it's possible on Toyota's. . . I did it on my Lexus (older model). I havn't slept for three days, and I'm kinda tired, so I'm not gonna go into detail. YOu have to find arm/disarm wire and cross it with the horn trigger (i forgot if you need a relay, but it's cake if you are good with electronics). That or you can get an aftermarket piezo buzzer/horn. Oh, and you'll also want a diode, so that your car won't lock/unlock when you hit the horn. It's trick because there are different spots you can tap it. . . some work some don't. . . you want the wire that gets the signal from the door lock key thingie. . . you know, when you lock the car with your key, and not the remote, but the alarm arms. . . man I'm REALLY tired.
