I personally wouldn't go get another tire from the dealer unless its being covered under warranty. You can get it much cheaper elsewhere, but if they are already fairly worn, just throw some toyo proxes 4 on there and you'll notice a significant difference. Especially with the winter coming up here in the tristate area, it wouldnt be a bad idea, but if the tires are still good, get them elsewhere if warranty is not helping.

(to make you feel better, my last car had 4 flat tires, all in the same tire!! no matter where on the car i'd put the tire, it would get a nail. haha)

what i would do is ask dealer for takeoffs this means they have new tire & rim from a new tc that customers up grade to 18" rims , most people don't realize dealers can't sell these tires as new anymore. no warranty because of DOT numder.

yes i 2nd the toyo proxes4 idea.. but for 80 bucks.. at least you saved some money. if later on you need some new tires, spect2k3 and I both agree toyo proxes4 is a great way to go.

I had a lot oftire problems with mine too. The low tire pressure light kept coming on and I would get a small hole patched and put more air in then afew weeks later it did it again. I finally gave in and bought 4 new tires. The tires that come stock on the tC are high performance tires and the tread wears really fast. The tires are only meant to last about 25k miles.... Screw th dealer, go to like Discount Tires or Big 10 and get some new ones that'll last you for at least 50k miles and still give you the performance you need... Just my opinion...

Ack...please don't post incorrect information. The stock tires (Yokohama S32A's) are anything but high performance. They are all season tires, and are rated for both mud and snow. Our tires are actually what you would call "crap tires." You are correct in that the tires wear extremely fast, but that isn't because they're high performance by any stretch of the imagination. They have a tread wear rating of only 160, meaning you'll be lucky to get 20,000 miles out of them if they are properly balanced, rotated, inflated, and not driven hard on. OEM tires like these are meant to make vast compromises for the sake of mass appeasement. They basically have to put an all-season tire on the car because the majority of people who buy Scions will be driving their car year-round.

And in all honesty, I would stay very far away from Discount Tires. If there's a Costco in your area, check out the tires there. Not that I'm biased. But I am a tire technician, and I know the difference between the employees at Discount and the ones at Costco. I've seen various instances of Discount employees doing incredibly negligent, dangerous things with tires.

the dealer isn't as bad as u think... I know the master tech here at our scion dealership and he is really good....he gives great advice!! tires are never covered under warranty!! soo yea.. The dealership can exactly match your tire and most likely have it stock unlike other places... It really depends on the individual dealership though...i think they are really good in most situations...but yea that is my own opinion sooo....

Thats actually incorret. The stock yokos are rated as high performance tires. There are passenger all-season tires, high performance all-season, and ultra high performance all-seasons. Then of course winter, summer, etc. But the yokos are in that midle category for the all-seasons. Take a look at a standard all-season tire that comes on a hyundai accent and you'd see.

Here is a link to the yokohama brand on tirerack:
http://www.tirerack.com/tires/yokohama/yokohama.jsp

You'll see the S32As are under the high performance all-seasons. If the car came stock with all-seasons, we would reeeeeeeally be complaining. lol. The ultra high performance are even better, like my toyo proxes 4....just fantastic!

I also agree about stock yoyos are rated high performance and they do handle well , not the greatest ,but for stock good enough , I've got 38,955 miles on my yoyos and I still have 60% left , alignment is key to all tires no matter what brand or how expensive they mite be, driving habits will also wear tires, but if your alignment is adjusted to your street driving need , like camber -/+& toe in or out you'll still get 40k out from these tires or any other brand and or rated. But no matter what set of tires you may have, burning out will wear tires in minutes, alignment every 6months or as needed ( hitting pot hole side walks etc..)

6 months is a bit extreme for an alignment imo. The tire places (who are trying to make money say every 12K) I'd say every 20-25K personally and watch the tire wear carefully

Calling it high-performance doesn't make it so. No all-season tire is going to touch a real high performance dry/wet rated tire.

are you talking about summer tires? No all-season tire can compare with a summer tire, but for an all-season tire, the yoko is considered high performance.

Exactly. When you compare it to other M/S tires, it might be higher performance because of the stupidly low tread wear. Still not high quality, but you get the idea. When you compare it to D/W tires, though, it's extremely low performance. Either way, regardless of the performance, it's still a fairly low quality tire.

Ok I said 6 months, but at over 38,000 miles and 60% left its well worth it... most places will align for under $49. Others $89 But you will save in the long run. but then again I perform my own 4wheel alignment on my tc ,(Toyota tech) you should at least perform alignment 12k or one year, I've seen tire companies who will perform alignment and offer free alignments for life once a year or so , just like free tire rotations, but then again quality you'll receive ???
