It depends on the dealer. Some dealers wont give ANY back.

Dude, that's not cool. I think if you want the rest of your money back, threaten to write a letter about them to Toyota America. I can't think of any good reason why they shouldn't give you every cent of your deposit back. They're going to sell the car they ordered for you in a heartbeat anyway. Don't let a dealer treat you like that.

no dealer can keep your deposit, no matter what they say or what you sign. Go back and get your money... they won't give it back.. call Scion.... see The covenant states they can't demand a deposit ... they can ask if you want to put one down but if you change your mind at any point .. you get to walk on the deal and you get your money back. If that dealership does not honor that agreement, they are breaking the contract they signed with Scion and if found to be true... they may have their allocation "altered"

Bring that to their attention and see what happens ... you should get your money back rather quickly ... remember, this brand is all about customer controlled sales ... you control the sale, not the salesman...

Throw their ___ on a leash and make 'em bark for ya

Good job... did they give you any grief, or did it not come to threatening to call Scion?

I called Toyota(Scion) of Plano and ask the sales rep if they had a refundable deposit and he was pretty rude about it. I decided to go to Richardson instead.

Wonder if this dealer was also charging the big $ DOC fee?? Also, keep tabs on that check. Just because they say you will be getting a check, doesn't mean you will get it anytime soon. I would recommend while it is "fresh" go back and demand it on the spot.

Got my Black Cherry automatic tC 3 days ago, and it would be worth waiting for if I had to! Yeah, just find a different dealership and wait!!! It looks nice, but you have to drive to FULLY appreciate this lil luxurious econo-box, lol!! It's awesome to say the least!!!!!
