your insurance is high because of all the people frauding the insurance companies...not from street racing. dont be a hippocrite, its not like you and everyone else has never broken the speed limit before.
There is a difference between breaking the speed limit and going 130. And rates are high because of people that are not responsible drivers- street racing and the like. Saying that people are frauding them left and right has caused a hike in rates is ridiculous.

hehe i knew it would take a moral angle on this post, but i was just interested, i mean Alligator alley (across the state of Florida) runs for 120 miles, deadly straight with no other cars on it. it pretty much is a race track ;) hehe..

Why is this such a difficult topic? There is a difference between having a rev limiter and having your speed electronically governed with in this case, the tC uses both. There is a rev limiter that kicks in once your rpm's reach 6,500. There is also an electronic speed governor that limts the top speed at 127mph. Alot of manufactuers these days use both especially in the case of tractor trailers, where I think they are governed at 90mph. Top speeds are governed mainly for safety and insurance purposes and has nothing to do with the capabilities of the vehicle.

Well yes, I'm going to say testing it out wasn't the most intelligent thing ever....but I live in ND....I need to drive 5 miles to get to a road that only has cars on it for 2 hours out of the day. I'm not doing something THAT stupid anywhere near other people...

I think the TC could get up to 140 if the fuel cut off wasn't there. I think there is enough room before you redline. All cars in the US are have speed limiters on them

I've never tried getting mine past 95mph. Pay some money and buy a chip from Japan, that will get it going past the limiter mark.

You and the rest of the country are taking the "Fast and the Furious" movie too seriously. The number of accidents caused by "racing" is a very very small percentage of the whole. Most of the claims are from fender benders. but insurance fraud has been running rampant and that is the main cause (according to the insurance companies atleast) for the huge increases in insurance rates over the last 10 years. so you can blame the guy having fun with his ride on a barren road but the fact is the guy who has his buddy key his civic in order to pay for that motor swap is more likely the reason your paying more.

My copilot said I hit 135 on the 55 north going against an SRT-4. My eyes were on the road so I didn't see.

...... of course I was in front!

Around here there aren't very many places where I can get 130 in the GTO, doubt I'll be trying that in the tC when I get it.... although I do have this 7% grade I go down every day on the way to work.

Without the speed govenor on I think giving the right road it could get 140. I also think this is all it can do

I said "and the like" not saying street racers only. Just because only a few wrecks occur from it doesn't mean it isn't stupid. I am talking about agressive driving and stuff like that- what happens when you puff your chest about how fast your 4 cyl. can go. And last time I checked- my rates are high because male drivers under 25 find a way to wreck cars..and reading this post doesn't make me wonder why that is.
