Top speed
Tonight around 12:30 I went onto the freeway just to blow some steam and I gunned my car and noticed that it redlines around 113mph. There was a slight breeze, temp was around 74 and I drive an auto. Anyone know why I can't make it to the 127? Just curious. No mods to my car. And I was going on a slight downgrade section of the freeway. Before you flame me, there was close to no traffic on the road.

Technically, the much-shorter gearing on the 5spd will max out around 135-140 (this can be mathematically determined, but i'm not caring enough to do so.) Obviously, the limiter prevents this.
The auto has taller gearing, therefore, should have a higher top speed. The "tallness" also results in a very signifigant difference in acceleration, in addition to the increase of friction losses through the drivetrain.

in a drag race, would there be a significant difference? manual vs auto?
