I know that tC stands for touring coupe.

"Touring" is typically a balance between sport and luxury, not exactly top of the line in either, but elements of both. First I've ever heard of the tC standing for that though. I just assumed they were going to call it "xC", but that name was already taken by Volvo.

I believe you're right on the xC part... but they probably went with tC b/c Touring Coupe fit... that's what Scion will tell you it stands for as well.

Yeah Scion supposedly says it means Touring Coupe, some people on here call it Today's Celica, or Turbo Charged either way its sexy for the car

you guys are correct. for legal reasons they couldnt use xC because of volvo, so they went with tC because it is considered a "touring coupe". as you can see they are continuing the line using xD. its a shame we couldnt be xC.

haha, never even realised that!
Touring..... I always thought of it as what ZlineDavid said, between sports car and luxo car.... but then I think of Euro touring car championships, which included BMW 3 series, Audi A4/S4, Opel Astra, etc.

i kinda like it as the tC... mainly cause it breaks the whole line and stands out amongst the other cars in scions lineup ... i like to be different.
