Default Toyota did WHAT?

It's pretty sad that the toyota/scion dealer would sell a used 2005 tC with 7,694miels for $19,999 when someone could walk over to the new side and get one for way less....now that's just sad.

I just saw it on the internet when looking through the used section at my local toyota dealer because i was bored.

That's not entirely due to Pure Pricing... that's a dealer trying to make a few more $$ on a car they didn't make much on when it was new.

But I guarantee to you they are not the only ones doing that. Just go to cars.com and search. Check for the xB and xA too. They're all doing it. Prices are WAY above new - especially with 10k-15k-20k miles.

But they wouldn't be selling them that high if people weren't buying them.

yeah...a dealer in Southern IL got a hold of a 2004 xB in OK shape (not perfect) with 18,000 miles and wanted $18K for it. Last I heard they were down to $14K, but that's still ridiculous when you can buy an identical but brand new one for almost that.

If the car is used and sold back to the dealer, it shouldn't fall under pure-pricing... I'm sure that's the starting price, and you can haggle them to lower it. Same with every other car.

Yeah i just thought toyota themselves would be a little better with the pricing since people can look at the new ones on the lot and be like WTF ya know? I can expect that from other dealers on used cars but toyota selling their own car for more then a new one, i mean WOW!

I test drove a 2005 tC b/c there were no 06's available to drive. It had 17K+ miles on it, and they had it stickered at 23,900. The dealer said they would probably go down to 19,500 at best. It didn't have any accessories either.

I told him if he found two people dumb enough to want to buy that car at that price, send one to me and I would buy another brand new tC from him.

It's just supply and demand.... there are a lot of people out there willing to spend money to get it NOW... rather than wait.... lame IMHO

Why would this make you mad?!! Just think about, what are you driving? Now do you really want it to be cheaper. All this is doing is adding resale value on our cars.

Its true its a dealer trying to make more money off a resale. Dealers all over the place are doing it anywhere you look on the internet or at local dealerships the used Tc is going for well above the cost of a new Tc..

WDS has a good point it is supply and demand pay more for 1 right now or wait out a few months. Mant ppl would pay a little more to drive home immediately.

Besides like Joseph_Scion said it adds resale value to our cars.. IMO I'd rather drive a car that has a higher resale value than a car that loses resale continuously after you bought it like most cars do..

We had an 04 xB with 22k on it selling for 16k. Someone bought it for $15,200. Supply and Demand. Trust me, the demand for Scions in New England is 350% of the supply. Some people will pay the extra just to get it. Fine by me. I dont plan on trading my TC in anytime soon.

once the car is used there is no pure pricing limitations. if someone doesn't do their research and spends that amount then they are not very smart. if you look at the autotrader.com and search through the listins you can see plenty of over priced scions.
