'05 IS300 or an '06 IS2/350? there's no such thing as an '06 300.

well, the is only had twice the mileage of his tc, and the IS is a very desirable car to me because it is one of the few if not only rear wheel drive cars toyota makes.

he got the money for the trade, either b/c it was a used car that he bought and doesn't even have a clear carfax report. The dealer gave it to him good, i can assure you..... but hey, now he has money to PAY OFF HIS DEBTS......

Don't get me wrong now, I love IS's, but I agree with the one poster who said that the IS250 and IS350 made the IS300 look dated. I really like the look of the new IS's, but if we side by side the 300 and the RS3.0 tC, watch what happens!

IS300
Advantages vs. tC RS 3.0
I6 215HP/218TQ vs. I4 161HP.163 TQ
Power sunroof (that doesn't rattle) option
8 speakers (I think? maybe more!)
Automatic headlights
RWD
hey, it's a lexus!

Pushes vs. tC RS 3.0
5spd (at least the ones I've seen)
Power windows and locks
Lots of plastic in the cabin, just like the tC
Lots o' options
17 inch alloys with the same stock tires as the tC
Safety stuff

Disadvantages vs. tC RS 3.0
Alacantra is standard on the tC RS 3.0, leather is an option on the IS
Tiny rearseat (smaller than the tC)
Power seat controls (this should be an advantage but I hate the power seat controls on the IS300 - they are sooo slow! I much prefer the lever and slide. So quick)
No MP3/iPod standard
Subwoofer standard
Rear moonroof
Price!!!!!1!one!
Gas mileage (plus I think the IS asks for high octane gas)
Expensive options
Personally I think tC looks > is300 looks (but IS250/350 looks >>> tC looks!)

I agree with what one poster said that the OP got a great deal if the IS was loaded, but base, Edmunds quotes 05's at about 22K dealer retail. The OP did get an awesome trade in on the tC though, so it worked out pretty good!

Anyhow, I'm not trying to say that the tC is better than the IS300 (especially loaded), that would be dumb. But the RS 3.0 probably really is better than a base IS300 when it comes to features. Apparently, the dealers think so too, cuz 18K isn't that much different from 22K...

still a real upgrade though IMO.. TC is nice but IS300 is just a higher class to compare with
