I want to install a cold air intake and an exaust in my Tc, just wondering what you guys think. Should I buy TRD or after market?

 

well TRD is a lot more money, plus the install...

 

TRD for warranty reasons, other brands for price.

 

Considering that intakes are only beneficial for sound and looks, I don't believe the trd is worth the money. The injen can get you maybe 4hp or so, nothing noticable. The trd is probably more like 2-3, and those numbers are being idealistic i'm sure. If you want to get an intake, go with a less expensive aftermarket intake - as inexpensive as possible, just make sure to use a GREAT filter. With the exhaust, I like the look of the trd, but its much too expensive for just a bit of a sound. Try www.precisionmufflers.com i'm going there shortly and many around here already have and seem to get great reviews.

 

The TRD axle back can be had for cheaper than what the dealer charges. Looks wise, it's my favorite. Sounds good too (untill you add a header...).

 

^^ agreed. I love the look of it. I just wish it wasnt so costly!

 

i would say it adds about 2-3hp, so your paying about $120-175/hp. TRD CAI not worth it IMO!



MANY people on here will vote for Injen. My vote will be Injen CAI & PrecisionMuffler.com Magnaflow Exhaust (i have it and love it!)

 

I personally think the injen cai is even a lot of money for a couple pieces of piping

 

You could get an aem they are around $230 shipped on ebay.

 

So sounds like i should go with aftermarket. Are the ones you guys mentioned loud? I dont want something that can be heard from a mile away, just a nice little hum for rumble.

the trd cai is made by aem. trd parts are expensive and for the most part, not worth it. i would go with an aftermarket company.

 

I was looking at Injen cai and they say off road use only no carb. Whats up with that?

 

no cai for the tc is carb, they're all the same, they put off road use to save their own hides in case they get sued.
