Default TRD Exhuast available in CA?

I just received my Tc and I'm lovin it! I ordered the TRD exhaust, but it was not installed upon delivery. The dealer told me that it did not pass CA emissions, and that I would have to wait a month to install it.

Has anyone else had this issue?

Dealer still swears that the exhaust is not available in CA... He said that at one time it was available, but now it is not. He told me to wait until the end of Sept. Am I the only person who has ordered the TRD exhaust in August????

Your dealer is full of crap. I just had the trd exhaust installed on my tc about 10 days ago. I think the probelm is that the exhaust is in such demand and that some dealers are having a hard time getting them. The only part that hasn't met emission standards is the cold air intake. It should be out pretty soon though. Oh and by the way the exhaust is awesome. Sounds really nice not to loud or ricey(its not a fart can). It almost sounds like the g35 exhaust. You only hear it when you are on the gas. So when you drive spirited you can hear it rumble but not so much when you drive it granny style. Also you hardly hear it when on the freeway. No loud drone or hum. One of the best mods you can do for the tc !!

I got my tC a couple months ago in Irvine and it came with the TRD exhaust right off the lot. I'm pretty sure it's just a demand thing that is being misinterpreted. And I agree with Icee169, it's a great sounding exhaust, not too obnoxious at all. You could always order it from a place like McGeorge and do the install yourself if you're into that sort of thing. It's not that hard if you're not worried about the possible warranty issues.

Having an aftermarket muffler on your vehicle does not restrict you from passing smog. Your dealer is full of crap, but if you feel that you cannot pass woith a trd than I suggest gettin a PrecisionMuffler.com Axle back tC version. I can say you will pass smog with it! :D

The precisionmuffler.com axle back tC version; Smog legal! :D

maybe it's just a lame excuse.

i know for a fact that the TRD exhaust and the Ground Effects kit for the tC are on nationwide back order.

I purchased my tC in Cleveland in August 04 and had the TRD exhaust installed as an option. My dealer (Motorcars Scion, Cleveland Heights) had it in stock. I love it. It has a nice sound that isn't pingy.

Default exhaust

TRD exhaust is supposed to be 50 states emission legal. I have my exhaust in place. I think that some dealers tell you it isn't available because they do not have any in stock...Sounds nice.

I would like to order, but I already paid the dealer. Paid much more than you're asking too. Wish I knew then... :?

On another note, just got my auto-start alarm, and the system is going in tomorrow. All I need now is the TRD exhaust and the springs, and maybe chrome the wheels.

which cali dealer was this? we have the trd exhaust on our demo tC, plus toyota would not release a non carb exempted exhaust. there would be too many lawsuit issues.

i know there's back order issues but never heard of this so called carb certification. that's what happens when you have toyota guys selling scions. people selling scion should only sell scions and vice versa. like us! (what a plug )
