those are dealership prices. go to www.trdsparks.com for a much better deal.

or mcgeorgeparts.com

also, with lowering springs, get the sport struts too!

shifters are a matter of preference. i think the stock shifter is perfectly fine. i love it, shifter is right at the perfect reach for me, and i think the throw distance is perfect.

other people rant about how horrible the stock shifter is and how much they love their short shifters that are 3 inches shorter with 40% throw reductions etc etc.

maybe because i don't know how much better the car could be with a short shifter that i kind of have a blissful ignorance on my opinion of shifting, but hey, i manage to shift the car and drive fast as hell with the stock shifter.

drive with the stock shifter, and if you find you would like it shorter, get the short throw shifter.

as for lowering springs, most tc owners agree they are essential for the stance and handling of the car. just remember to get the sport shocks too!

oh, and don't buy anything other than the car itself from the dealership. their prices are rediculous.

Docs - Throws are reduced 50% over stock. Height can be set to whatever the end user desires, from no reduction (with cage riser bushings) to 3". The default GearSwitcher has a 1.5" overall height reduction and a 50% throw reduction.

I used to think that too. Then when i saw my friend's shifter on his civic si, i knew i needed a shorter shifter.

have to admit, i've seen short shifters, and they look nice, but i am just so fluid on the stock shifter that i don't believe i can benefit from a new one.

i might get one soon since i have a hole in my obx classive leather shift ****. i'll probably do the whole thing...get a new short throw shifter, shift booty, parking brake leather cover just because i need a new shift ****...but i like to do everything in large installments.

or you get a friend who's mechanically inclined :D

Being that I work for a dealership, I get my stuff installed there pretty much by the same person.

another +1 for DocI's shifter , very nice item with nice feel and the install directions (on his website) are first rate.

The TRD might be worth it if you want to keep the same shifter height, want a super easy install, AND you really want the TRD ****.

If you are absolutely sure about all three of those pieces, buy the TRD set. If you question any of them though, buy something else. You can get stock height from other shifters, and the install of other shifters is easy too... and if you really want the TRD ****, you can get it later.

Take a read through this:

I am assuming that if you buy after market parts then the warranty will be voided. Can you buy after market parts and have then installed by a Toyota/Scion shop and save from having the varranty voided? Also, what, if any, after market modifications can you make that won't void the warranty?

A good read:
https://www.scionlife.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=55338

Basically installing a part doesn't "void" anything. But if the dealer can prove that a non-OEM part caused some other problem - that "other problem" will not be repaired under warranty. You'll have to pay for repairs.

But definitely read through that thread - even if the first part sounds like legaleze.
