I think it is a great shifter, and extremely easy to install if you have all of the correct tools, the biggest difference between this short shifter from others is that it is a "Real"
shortshifter, other shortshifters just shorten the height of the shifter itself, while this one actually keeps stock height but adjusts the angle of the shifter inside the housing resulting in approx. 20% shorter shifts.

This method of shortening shifts is very common in the pro segment of sportscar racing.

Also the fact that it comes with the steel bushings makes the shifts feel a lot more solid.

I am very happy with mine and would highly recommend it to anyone willing to spend the money.

I got this installed in my car form the dealer as my first shifter. All I can say is that I learned a great deal faster in learning how to drive a manual

How is it a "real shortshifter"?
When installing do you somehow shorten the linkages?
I'm not being a smart a** or anything, just curious.

I have the TWM which in my opinion is pretty damn nice.

Honestly I think the TRD is overpriced. I have the B&M and its terrific. They have been making shifters since the old days so I trust their knowledge. It only lowered my height a little so they did not just shorten the shifter. I think the TRD does come with a new shift **** though.

The reason for the price is that it is already installed in a new cage and also comes with a fairly decent leather wrapped shift ****.

If you want to di-sect the cage (which is easy) you can save yourself some money by getting another aftermarket option.

Both the B&M as well as the TWM are great alternatives.

If you look at the pic in the link you will see the diffrence in the length and pivot point of the stock (bottom) and B&M (top) Shifter shafts.

I didn't do a before and after pic of the install, but you can feel the diffrence and i realy like the hieght of the B&M as it's just perfect for me to basicly sift with my finger tips.

It is around a 15-20 minute install with all the proper tools.

I would guess the dealer will probably charge for 1 hour labor, so $80-$110 is a good ballpark, But call your dealer and they can give you a quote.

the TRD shifter is too tall, the stock shifter is too tall....the TWM is just about the right height.

The TRD shifter has been great for the 30 minutes I just took it for a spin. It did take a little more than the suggested 30 minutes (close to 90 with 2 people, albeit noobs) to install, but definitely worth the money so far. And I just learned how to drive stick about 2 weeks ago so it feels a lot easier.
