Default trouble starting? (2007)

a few times my car has not wanted to start. like when i turn the key the car isn't catching right away. it has only happened maybe 6 times in the 6 months i've owned the car. and every time i second guess myself, like do i have the clutch in all the way and am i turning the key all the way? but i'm pretty sure i know how to start a car and i've always driven a manual. just wondering if anyone else has had this problem?

i searched but didn't find this exact issue. thanks for your help!

Mine does that sometimes on really hot or really cold days when it's been sitting outside, and I have an auto.

I have had similar problems as well...nothing too major...but one thing I have noticed that on really cold mornings...if I turn the key to the on position and leave it there maybe 2-3 seconds then start the car I haven't had the problem since. It seemed like when I just tried to go from off to start that it had trouble. Not sure if this trick does anything at all...but it cured my problem.... good luck

My 07 auto does that too, but only on cold days.

thanks for your replies. this has only happened on normal weather days and the car never sits more than overnight. sometimes it has done it when i have just driven the car 4 hours before. i guess i will just wait till it gets a bit worse/ more predictable & have the dealer assess. But of course if I bring it in now it will never do it ;)

Mine did that few days ago and it was the first time. It wasn't cold or hot but it started right away at the second time. I have 07 auto.

happens to me on occasion, maybe we arent turning the key all the way or we are doign it too fast. I heard someone say that you should turn it half way for a second or two then hit the ignition.

happens to me every once in a while. there was a thread about it a while back, it happens with almost all of them.

turn it to the on position, let it sit for a second or two, and then start, and it shouldn't do it.

if your car is really new (like under 500 miles), I had the same thing. It stopped happening after about 3 tanks of gas. Also, I found that it never happens with 76 regular gas, so it's what I've been using. A few days ago, I got cheveron regualr and it happened again. So it's probably the gas you use. Find a good one and stick to it.

I actually had this happen to me today when I was leaving work. I turned the key and the engine 'chuged' for a bit, before it finally started. I figured it was just from the cold, I hope thats all it was.

Ok, probably a different case then.

Try to see if you can observe a pattern between the cases of hesitation of starting and gas. Such as if it only happens if you just got gas, switch octane ratings, or brands of gas.

Hope this helps. But just keep in mind that with the thoughts put into engineering cars these days, there's not going to be an easy solution to this.
