I heard once you use regular oil you shouldn't change to a full synthetic....it's damaging to the engine.......I was told to use half synthetic for a while...then go to full....any truth to that?

 

Doubt it. I did that and its been running strong. Many have done this.

 

I change my oil about every 3,000 miles because...well...look at the oil when it comes out. I dont really want that in my engine another 2,000 miles. I would rather spend the money on new oil and have the car last longer.

 

I can't believe all the mis information going on here. It's like banging your head against the wall.

kevbow, As long as you wait till AFTER 1K your better off switching over to Mobil 1 ASAP thereafter.

Thank you for agreeing with me. Seems like whenever I say that I change my oil every 3,000 miles AND that I use full syn people seem to go nuts and think im crazy.

 

I'm thinking that most people don't do any of their own maintance so they don't truely know how nasty that stuff is after 3K or 5K depending on which oil used. They blindly follow what others say and just cross their fingers that their engines will live a full happy life. Those are the cars you see smoking out the tailpipes after 4 or 5 years of service.
