Default Turned 223k the other month... still running strong!

2006 w/ 223k.

Still running strong! Some recent tid bits you might be interested in (or not? LOL)

- Recent drive from SF to San Diego (494 miles). Managed to make it down the 5 freeway from Los Banos to San Diego - 386 miles on the tank. 87 octane, AC on, straight shot through LA (timed it with no traffic). 75-80mph, mostly 80 on the grapevine stretch. Approx 30mpg.
- Had the "infamous" steering wheel "tick" (at slow speed turning, or stopped, or 3 pt turns) which I thought was the intermediate shaft. I purchased a low mileage used intermediate shaft from ebay with the idea I would replace it eventually. Fast forward to a few weeks ago
I dropped the Hotchkis Front Sway bar in. Installed per instructions. As you would guess, dropping the front subframe, loosening the 4 rack and pinion bolts, the rack and pinion assembly hangs on its own weight, and the intermediate shaft telescopes a tad to accommodate this.
After buttoning everything up, torquing down the bolts and going for the test drive, the tick has disappeared. My best guess is that when putting everything back together stuff is more aligned and tighter than before OR the added stiffness of the front sway bar somehow resolved the issue (which would indicate maybe the problem was swaybar related to begin with).
- Upgraded front blinkers to OXILAM LED Ambers (Amazon). Upgraded rear blinkers to OXILAM LED Reds. Hyperblink appeared after the rears installed. Tried the Novita LM449 flasher relay, but it would not trigger the blinkers when arming/disarming (Stock Scion alarm). Rolled the dice w/ the $12 Amazon "DEWHEL 8-Pin Speed Adjustable Electronic LED Flasher" and resolved everything: No Hyperblink, Blinkers are speed adjustable, Arm/Disarm parking flash works, and it has the courtesy lane 3-blink touch. So you just tap the signal stock and it blinks 3 times when changing lanes. Had that on my Audi before, pretty nice feature when changing lanes on the freeway.

Have a good one!

Dude, that's awesome. Mine's upwards 150 and doing pretty good too. It lived in the Midwest for a while though so I'm dealing with rust now. I'm thinking of replacing my front sub frame assembly. Never done anything like that before. You said you dropped yours too when you did the intermediate shaft. Any tips on dropping the frame?
