Uh... you guys may want to look at this:
I was on the Toyota Nation forums and I came across this post:
http://www.toyotanation.com/forum/t80868.html
It's about this guy who was driving slowly down his block when his wheels basically broke and cause the car to pull to the left, which resulted in an accident. Fluke, right? It gets worse. About half way down the post, someone else reported the same problem... except this time the defect pulled the tC into on-coming traffic... In both cases the car veers to the left uncontrollably -- yikes.
I haven't heard of this problem until now, what about you guys? All I can say is... dang.

somebody posted that story on scionlife a while ago. I forget who it is, but he was looking for advice at who to try to contact and deal with first. I remember him saying something about he contacted scion, but it was going to take them a long time to send a rep out to check out the incident. That is definitly a scary situation..
"A new car built by my company leaves somewhere traveling at 60 mph. The rear differential locks up. The car crashes and burns with everyone trapped inside. Now, should we initiate a recall? Take the number of vehicles in the field, A, multiply by the probable rate of failure, B, multiply by the average out-of-court settlement, C. A times B times C equals X. If X is less than the cost of a recall, we don't do one."

ask ford motor company about the cost of not fixing the exploding pinto gas tanks when they first knew they were killing folk....or mcdonalds about serving scalding coffee after internal memos from franchisees warned the coffee was being brewed so hot that people were getting their laps scalded in the drive through and management's response was "but people like our coffee that hot, we sell more, how much can a few burned laps cost in court?" millions apparently (that is an example of a case where the value was a couple thousand and the person was awarded in the millions because the defense proved the callous nature of management...."punitive damages").
GREAT. First there are reports of the panoramic roof shattering by itself during high speeds, then they call the tC a girlie car, now the freakin tire flies off! I bought a Scion tC to pimp it out and because i thought they were safe cars, not to have glass in my eye, made fun of, and have my $2000 rims flying off. This is Bullsh*t.
i remember somebody posting that they had seen this before with other cars...and it was caused by someone messing with the lug nuts, loosening them.
i guess the nuts could come loose if you never checked them. i never checked mine, i'll do that tomorrow

I read the post on the other website and they are it's the same post and picture from the one on here awhile back. As for the other story…. I have never heard that one. Sounds more serious than the initial post about such a problem. My condolences if the story is true. Never know these days…a hater or someone from a competitor pulling the child card story. All I know is that will be one of the first things I look at if I ever get a tC.
This isn't rocket science, a wheel turns independently for only one reason...the tie rod is no longer connected. The wheel did not fold under so it's not a control arm/strut problem. Furthermore, Toyota Motor Company did not get the good reputation and market share that they currently enjoy by disregarding serious safety issues with their vehicles. The people who are spun up about this report are the same ones that believe that Swiffers poision your pets. Common sense seems to be in real short supply these days....I am sure that when/if the whole story ever comes out that we'll find a very logical reason/cause for this occurrence.
Yeap... I can see it now Iam going 45mph down the road sun roof open .. nice sunny day... big a$$ grin on my face and all of a sudden BANG ! BOOM ! POW ! I see my front tire rolling away.... then the shards of broken sun-roof glass hit my eyes and Iam blinded at this point (there goes my big grin) screaming at the top of my lungs HELP ME ! ! but noone can .... Iam in for ride of my life ..slam into a tanker truck (knee side air bag won't help now) and hear another BIG BOOM!!! and it's all over.... I feel no more pain as float above my burnt bloody eyed body as I lift to heavan ..... that's the best rush you can get for $19K !!!

So you could have a 9 pornstar lineup, have your fun, then pay me the remaining $1000 to come in and end your life.
Now THAT would be a rush... But yours is good too.
