That is crazy that neons are illegal in Ca.
I personally wouldn't have a set, but it should be your choice to weither you can have them or not. The only thing that is illegal back where I come from in TN, is if you have a blue one that is not hidden under the car and out in view such as on the dash, then you can get pulled over and get a big ticket.

They're stupid anyway and a waste of money. Nothing but a distraction and rather pointless to begin with...sorta like 8" tall wings on the back of FWD economy cars.

Its illegal in most states. You cannot have them on while the car is running. Its for show use only. You can turn them on at a show or parking lot.

Its rice, but its your car, and if you want to be laughed at, go for it.

you've just proved my point. distractions lead to accidents. those other morons attracted to shiny lights will be the ones that cause them.

and yea, it is totally rice. not everything you see on Fast n Furious is cool.

If you check on the legislation, there are sometimes way to work around it. I know here there is. The way you can have underglows and still be legal is making sure that the bulbs are under the car, where they can't be seen. This point may sound trivial, but I know people who have gotten tickets thrown out because of it. Also, I have talked with cops, and most of them know the loophole in the law here, so they ticket appropriately. As the law reads, you can't see "light" per-say, but it doesn't say anything about the "reflection of light." I know it sounds dumb, but stick with me here. So, if somebody that would normally be driving can't see the bulbs under your car, but only the light hitting the ground, it is perfectly legal. If you want to do it, check into that. Other laws might contain that loophole.

I've heard that as long as the light bulbs are not showing (obviously, they're bright), then it's alright to have lights under your car, as long as just the glow is showing. I've seen a mustang with lights under the car drive by a cop and the cop did nothing. I'm pretty sure that's the way it is here in TX. I asked a cop this when I was in driver's ed a loooooong time ago, because I wanted to rice out a Civic...lol. I didn't though, so breathe easy. He didn't look too pleased by my question, but he said as long as no blue or red lights are shining from the front of the car, I'll be okay.

negative, not illegal in california as long as it isnt red and u cant see the source

i won 4 tickets against it in CA

if you read the law it is ok as long as it is "diffused" light. meaning you cannot see the source, IE glowing off the ground, as long as theyre installed so u cant see them and are NOT red....

100% legal

if you need paperwork to fight it call me, ill get u the info

its even legal to drive with it....as long as u cant see it, not red, and is under a certain light emission, which all neons and LEDs are well under

simple solution... don't be a ricer and keep the lights off, you'll save money, time and your reputation.
