Default Upgrade from 2005 Tc advice

Heya

Right now, I own a 2005 Scion Tc, and I've been pretty happy with it for the most part. It's a great car, but I didn't get anything extra....not even car mats.

So now, I get a letter from my dealer saying "We Want Your Car!!". Probably building up a used car inventory so they have better control over pricing.

Anyway, I've got the urge to trade in for a 2008 Tc, this time with a few extra features like TYC lights, a Pedestal Spoiler, and yes, car mats.

Thing is, I also want to do something for performance. I've been satisfied with handling, but now I want something for acceleration or top speed. I'm planning on getting a Manual transmission.

I've been doing some reading around the forums, and it looks like Intake/Headers/Exhaust is the general idea before to turbo/supercharger (if I got that right).

I've also seen parts that are already available from the Build your Own Tc page, so I guess that brings me to my questions:

1: Are the performance parts listed on the builder any good? I was looking at the QuickShifter and Sports Muffler at least.

2: For I/H/E, got any recommendations?

BTW, I am a stark newbie when it comes to car workings. I only know how to drive'em, not build'em. Always willing to learn, though.

Also, if you know any "Intro to Car Tuning" sites, definitely let me know.

Thanks all

Intake and headers would be a COMPLETE waste if you ended up going a turbo route, which I wouldn't recommend, since you admitted to being a noob. If you're looking for more bang, go with the supercharger and get it installed on day one, they're more reliable than they used to be (05-06 had MANY issues), then you can upgrade exhaust for a little more power.

Also, if you think the handling was good, I suggest getting some springs and sway bars (get the TRD springs when you buy the car, so you don't have to pay for installation) and you'll think you're driving a totally different car (a good thing).

Most of the things Scion sells are over priced, and you can get them much cheaper at places like trdsparks.com. IE, floor mats are cheaper, TRD exhaust is cheaper...however, for things that you order for the car when you buy it, you won't have to pay for installation (atleast I didn't for my 05 AND 0.

I went from an 05 to an 08 and it was a big change, all the subtle tweaks make a huge difference (projectors, steering wheel controls, radio..) and the ride was so much better.

well i have an 05 tc. and your right that dealer wants to build there used car inventory. certify your car and makr it up almost to the same price as a new one(you would be surprised) id do it especially if they are giving you thousands or more off of kbb. and i would of done it for the steerin wheel options etc.. if i didnt put money into my car.
