Default water leaking into headlight.

i have an issue with the right side headlight leaking. I already took it out, and resealed it with a lot of cord weatherstrip from 3M (strip caulk) and it still does the same thing, but less. I noticed that the outer clear lense is not 100% flush with the fender. there's a 3mm gap (like the lense was shifted down a lil). I have no idea what could be causing this problem. I did do a retrofit using FX35 HID projectors. maybe they are too big and preventing the shroud from clearing? they aim up and down fine. next time , i think i am going to tape around it first and then seal the tape so that if there's any discrepancy around the edge, the tape will still provide the seal.

does anyone have this problem too?

is it comming from the lense or the back of the headlamp? Only thing i can think is re-baking them?

Just part of the risk of baking your lights and doing a retro.

ic. i have used silicon before for previous retrofits with success, but I don't like how you have to cut it off if i ever want to open it again. with the strip caulk, i can bake it. strip caulk is like the butyl headlight sealer from Nissan. you put a strip of it into the groove and then you close the outer lense sandwiching the caulk until they squeeze out. I think i found the problem which is the far right side on the Right passenger headlight has a hard time sealing because it is very narrow.

scott: nice ride. for a show car, the money is well spent. how'd you blue the headlights? i have been wondering if i can do that too, but with smoke color instead for the JDM look ..

thanks! I have actually added a Viniati V spoiler, precision muffler dual magnaflow exhaust, tinted the windows even darker, and so fourth.

With the headlights, I went with a blue that made normal halogens look almost hidish. my buddy owns a graphic/vinyl shop. he wrapped them for me.

I think once I get real hid's I am going to smoke them and smoke my tails to match. I think the smoked look will go well with my extremely dark tinted windows

do you know by any chance how i can smoke the headlights to make it a little darker? i don't want it like bug eye black smoke. that's just too dark. i still want to be able to see what's behind it.

you can night shade them with just one coat, or you can use a really light tint vinyl. I would recommend the vinyl since you can peel it off and go another route in the future.
