Default Weapon-R Power Steering Tank

Does anyone else have one of these? I had problems with mine and they wouldn't take it back. It looked sweet but it first had a pin hole in one of the welds, created pressure and leaked from the cap.....even after I fixed the pin hole, made a filter and drilled holes in the cap to relieve the pressure.....the steering was'nt operating smoothly when turning left. I think it has a serious design flaw. Has anyone else had this problem? I have an $80 piggy bank....

I have one, but mine doesnt have any pin hole and didnt leak. I had the same problem with my steering not being smooth. I pulled it out because I thought I did something wrong on the install. I talked to my friend and he told told me that when its installed, then you have to fully turn the wheels fully to the left and to the right with the car turned off about 50 times. He said this will get the power steering fluid to flow through the system and get rid of the air pocket(s) that devloped during the install. He said the air pockets are causing the steering to not feel right. He also said the best way is to jack the front of the car up to make it easier to fully crank the wheels to the left and right. I have not tried this yet, but I am going to try to get time to re-install my tank this month. I hope this helps.

If it had a pin hole we would have exchanged it, if you were the original owner of the item.

Also what some people dont understand with power steering is you have to bleed it just like you would bleed your coolant system. if there is air in the system, then there will be pressure and even noise in your power steering. you will have air leak in when you transfer tanks. really sounds like you didn't bleed the air out of the system.

I spent alot of time trying to work the air out of the line...plus i had it in for at least a couple weeks......it still was building pressure and leaking out the top. I would try it again when i feel like constanly wiping up power steering fluid. As soon as i put the stock tank back in my steering was perfect again....so i don't know. Anyone have one with no issues???

the pin hole was fixed and it was polished up nice. So I would have to bleed the system? What about the pressure build up? I made the cap able to relieve pressure without leaking fluid, but still had a mess because you have to keep it pretty full in order to keep air getting in the line from turning hard left...away from the hoses

Mine originally came with a pin hole in the weld as well, called them and they said send it back,I did and theyhad the new one to me in 48 hours.

put cap on some what loose, like 1/4 turn from closed and the fluid needs to be full to within 1/4inch from top with lid on,start car and turn steering wheel to the right, hold it there for 30 seconds, turn wheel to the left hold for 30 seconds, repeat 3 -4 times and the air is going to be bled out of the rack, turn off car and open cap a little to bleed of the air.recomend using a rag to keep fluid from going everywhere.

since the resivour is sealed and not vented you will need to change out the fluid say once a year with new toyota automatic tranny fluid and it will be good to go....do not use the power steering fluid you buy at autoparts stores......it will not work,,,,,,,use automatic tranny fluid for toyota.

mine has been on now for about 19000 miles and not a problem.

same with me just had to make sure it was to the top. I also made sure to put in a new seal under the cap as well because I got a little moisture as well. Now the coolant tank...Chris any advice for the pick up tube?

My mod to the tank works perfect, take the tube that is sticking out and a 3/4" drill bit and drill the tube down flat, and through the canister, get a .39c 3/4" rubber grommet at home depot, they are in the electrical section next to zip ties and also in the section here the screws are in the drawers.

Put gromet in the new hole made where the old tube was,get a new hose from auto zone that is 3/4" and stick in to the can and attach to radiator overflow, that way you have tube all the way to bottom of can with no restrictions, thought I showed you that Kanchi.

I should probably send pictures of what I did to Chris, then they could stop welding the tube on and save a littel on production materials and cost, and just drill hole and add gromet........Chris how about some brownie points for the idea........everything on car is weapon R.....lol

i'm not impressed at all , just that we have to mod something after trial and error and so much time thinking it should work to begain with.....someone should take this info and work it out before we buy it.... that's all i got to say about that. Like i said....i'll flush my fluid and try it AGAIN!!!! Maybe i'm just a little ____y today?

Yeah I under stand paying for a product and having to modify it to work.........so far the only thing that I have had to install that did not need modified is the wheels and tires..........everything else I have bought has needed work to even get it to work.
