held the button in, turned the key to the on position, let go after ~ 10 seconds and S - off came up.

Not sure about the S -off... but on mine the belt beeper will not turn off. It says B- off but makes no difference in the operation of the beeper. Not a big deal though.. I wear my seat belts. Just thought it would be nice when moving it from one lot to the next at work.

Why would anyone want to turn off the needle bounce, it's so cool!?

Uhh...and yeah, I dn't know what that means but maybe you could find it on the tC FAQ website?

the beep code confused me too. It works like this:

turn it to on, hold the button, insert the seatbelt, turn the thing to off, then UNHOOK YOUR SEATBELT.

I did it to my car, but couldn't figure it out why it wouldn't work on my g/f's car. I was messing with it and finally figured it out. Try that.
