Default What car would you choose. Need tc owners to help

So i need some severe input guys, i currently have a 2007 sentra that the lease is up on. I have pretty good knowledge about cars and have been researching for months now what i want my next car to be. This community seems knowledgeable so i feel good about asking you guys. What should my next car be?

Through much research i have come down to two cars, that fit my needs and are in my price range.

First off scion tC. many of my friends have tC's, i have driven them, love the customization. its great. however My other choice is a 2005-2007 Ford Mustang V6 5speed.

My issues
-tC is probably more reliable then the ford
-tC is more able to be customized (which i plan on doing to either car)
-mustangs do not have moon roofs
-gas mileage is comparable so im not worried.
-i like that the mustang is RWD
-Mustang is much quicker then a tC. 240lb/tq 210hp
(they are as fast as the older GT's)
-to mod a mustang the parts are more expensive
-both can be turned into hot looking cars
-I hate that every eleven-teen year old has a tC haha

I just cant decide. I will be buying the car used no matter what so the prices are very similar, but its just such a battle of give and take / Win or loose. You cant have the best of both worlds when your on a budget.

So my question to you is would you trade your tC for a 2005-2007 Mustang v6 5 speed?

please help! haha

where on LI do you live? I would go tC man, RWD is gonna suck when the weather gets bad here trust me. the mustang isnt that much quicker than a tC, remember its got a big bulky heavy engine. IMO the tC is better looking inside and out, thats your call though.

Out of those two I would say tC. However, if you had said Mustang GT I would have said get that instead.

tC. Everyone has mustangs too. Plus, dont let the power differences fool you. The weight comparison just about evens it out between the two. Also, if you decide to do autocross or something of that nature, that mustang probably wouldn't be the way to go. Not saying the tC is either, but I would definitely choose it over the mustang.

thanks for the input guys, how would you say insurance is on a tC compared to say a corrolla or civic or sentra? is it in the same realm or is it jacked up because so many high school kids crash their tC's that mommy and daddy got them. just reading around hear, idk if it was a joke but someone was comparing their insurance rates to that of an evo

True on the insurance thing.
Since first bought mine in 2004, its gone up an extra $480 a year. Out of curiosity I called to get quotes on an acura TL, an infiniti g35, and a WRX STi (estimated a 2006 for all) and the insurance prices on all except the STi were less. STi was like an extra $15 a month....

Insurance rates are high for what it is. I could probably be in a STI for the same rate or so. I don't think it's because a lot of tC's get in accidents, it's just when they do the insurance company has to fork over a lot of money if it's totaled. This is probably due to the tC holding it's value so well. For example my car is an 06 with nearly 70k and it's worth 10 grand.

The tC is considered one of the more expensive cars to insure so I wouldn't be surprisedn if it does cost about the same as an Evo..but there are other factors in insurance cost so you won't really know until you talk to an insurance agent.

and the tC for sure between those 2..have you driven the mustang? I know you said you drove the tC before

The tc is in the top 10 list for most expensive cars to insure, but so is the sentra so it might not be that much of an increase over what you have now.

i test drove one a few weeks ago. its a nice car, very torquey, it was nice since there was so much of if you really didnt have to down shift if you wanted to gain some speed. the visibility isnt as good tho as a tC and it just didnt feel as zippy around corners, some good body roll going on. but i loved the feeling of RWD when i took off.

between a tc and a mustang v6, (i know this sounds bias), but i'd get the tc. v6 mustangs just look weak, are weak (a 4.0 liter v6 should be making 300 bhp, no 210 bhp, look at nissan's 3.7 liter v6 making 330 bhp), the base v6 suspension is awful.

the tc will do just about everything outside of drifting better than a v6 mustang. it'll hold its value better, it is more versatile for carrying things, it looks classier, and is easier to drive and live with.

i say depends on what kind of mods you wanting to do.. out of those 2 i'd say you be better off with tC based on your location.

if you have a second cheap car to drive in a winter then get a mustang,.. good solid cars, no issues with reliability. and stock engine is pretty good 350whp is not a problem on that engine plus RWD it would be awsome.
I love mustang personally ( new ones ) as i used to sell them few years back.

well it only snows bad around here like 3 times a year if that.. im not to concerned about the snow. and id be looking to keep it NA. i dont have the funds to do an X-charger. but on a mustang a CAI and tune will net you close to 20 horsepower gain.. while on a tC it does jack lol...id also be doing a full exhaust system, and probably put the car on ebiach sport lines.

but id do the same thing with a tC I/H/E resonators haha and drop it and add some sways.

Ive been trying to find reliability problems with the mustang but there really arent many issues people are having. i may just have to flip a coin on this one haha

im calling my insurance company tomorrow and seeing what the deal is for both of these cars.

yes call up insurance see which is more affordable for you, and if you like the way mustang looks in and out i would honestly buy a mustang. ( not a V6 thou) i sold cars in NY and NJ and sold a vert 06 silver V6 to my friend for 17K with 13K miles on the clock few years back.. hooked him up he likes it.

Mustang's are sporty and hot and can be sick when customized.
tC's are sporty and hot and can be sick when customized.....And they're MUCH more practical when it comes to winter, backseat leg/headroom, and folded down seats cargo room. Not to mention the aforementioned sunroof =)

Edit--I would never trade my tC for a Mustang.

1. Japanese cars have been proven from time to time to be much more reliable than American cars.
2. The tC is much more customizable because it was made to be able to be customized to the owners liking.
3. Im guessing you like the panoramic roof so thats a +.
4. Gas mileage is still going down the gutter once you go turbo, and trust me boost is more addicting than crack.
5. I myself am more into RWD cars.
6. V6 Mustangs on paper are much quicker than the tCs. What you have to take into effect is the fact that they are much heavier too. Instead you should look at the hp/lb ratio.
7. It is more expensive to mod a Mustang.
8. Both can be turned into hot looking cars.
9. And yes, for any car, you have those immature kids acting like idiots, you just have to learn to ignore them.
