Default What did you pay for your tC

So, I'm thinking about picking up a tC, if I can get the dealer to give me a decent deal on my trade..

I've been looking around at the new and used market on these cars.. and I'm seeing something really odd.

The used cars are more expensive than the new cars.. One of the local dealers here has a black cherry pearl, 5spd, base model for $15,700, but then I thought I'd look at CarMax and see if they had any good deals... they're asking 16,999 for one that's got 3k miles..

It seems like the pricing might be heavily dependent on your region, but still.. who buys used cars for more than MSRP?

PS: anyone want a WRX?

it really doesn't matter which dealer you go to for your scion, they got pure pricing which means you'll be paying the same at each one. i'm not sure how pricing goes for used ones though, but if the price is that close, i'd rather opt for a brand spankin new one.

is the WRX the car your lookin to trade in? its funny, cause i was looking at a 2002 wrx with 70k miles for 13k or a brand new xB for like 15k but ended up getting the tC for 17k. weird how things work out.

Yeah, well, there seems to be some sort of price difference between the three dealers here..

Greentree: 15,673 (says base)
http://www.greentreescion.net/New-In...toryId=1562267

Oxmoor: $16,610.00 (this care lacks any desc other than it's BCP, and 5spd, might have optional equip)

Scion of Louisville: $17,165.00 doesn't list any options (says base)

Of course, who knows what they've added.. but 15,673 sounds like a really good deal..

You've got some messed up dealers around you. I did a little research on the first link you posted. The car they are advertising on ther site was sold on March 9, 2005 and the invoice price was $15673, retail price was $16,465. If you check out their pricing tab, you will see that they charge the same as everybody else for the new tC at $16,515 (there was a $50 price hike from Scion on all cars shipped after mid-February so the old price would have been $16,465).

The second one probably is also sold and probably had floor mats at $145. It probably sold long ago as well becuase that is an old price unit.

The third one is a 5 speed with side air bags. It is priced correctly.

Eveyrbody pays the same. Some dealers will add dealer fees, but the base price is identical everywhere you go. Often, the inventory page is incorrect, but the pricing page is almost always dead on.

yeah. most of these dealers are worthless.. their pages hardly render in firefox.. oxmoor has every xB listed as a tC, etc..

meh.

go on scion.com, and price your car out the way you want it. you can then take that build sheet to any scion dealer and tell them that is what you want.

The only additional price increases should be for delivery fee (some dealers charge for that, some don't) and tags/taxes/reg.

In many cases the used ones have alreayd been modded/upgraded a lot, which is why new ones at "stock" can be cheaper.

Mods don't add value.. at least not for most other brands of cars.

I should have clarified, the dealerships add whatever they want to the cost because they are no longer restrained by pure pricing and they can "justify" the price hike by saying "Look at these amazing upgrades like the mats and the cargo net!"
