What does tC stand for?

Well what i actually heard was that it actually stands for Toyota Celica...or atleast thats what the car dealer was telling me because he said eventually toyota would like to replace the celica with the tC so he told me it stood for Toyota Celica. I honestly dont know if its true or not and odds are it isnt but o well just a thought.

It stands for Touring Coupe...at least that's what they told us when we went through the training for it.
Originally they were going to call it the xC to keep the naming scheme intact. Then they realized that Volvo has an xC already.
Next they considered the xTc....turned it down for obvious reasons.
Finally they settled on xC.
