What drives you?
First off sorry if this has been asked before, but I feel this is an evolving question.
What drives you? what moves you , whats you inspiration when it comes to modifying your car? What ideas in the car world or in real every day life make you say I want to do this or that to you car?
For me it's simple (i think) Form and Function. Clean and Crisp. I want my car to extend from what is me. I'm direct and to the point. don't pull any punches. (so I have been told) I want my car to show that part of me. Not alot of flash, but yet a hint that it has the ability to do so if wanted to. And also with enough power to get the job done. But with a little juice I know i can hang with the big boys..

i guess being known around town as the scion guy. the few mods i do have are a great difference from all the stock tc's in town. in fact a lot of the tc owners i meet here dont know about the community (SL) or any parts that are available for their car. because of their lack of knowledge, understanding or carring, i stand out above the rest, and that is a great feeling.

Adrenaline. My tC is not the fastest one or anywhere near "fast" but it still can put a kick in the pants every now and then with it's looks and the amount of "up and go" it has (well, over my previous car, a integra). It's also the fact that I want people to know about the car and how great of a car it really is for the money.
I see cars as a blank canvas. Artists use paints and a paint brush to express themselves. Our paint is our parts, and our paint brushes are our tools. 90% of people dont understand. They give you a weird look when you put in thousands of dollars into your car. We will never see any of that money back but we know that. This is our art and its how we express ourselves.

My car is a spitting image of me... Always clean except when Im lazy, a little crazy looking, a little stealth like (has some things about it you don't know until you actually get to know the car) and is right Random and times! And has big doors like I got big ears... :D
HATEBREED and Perserverance drives me "Its our struggles that define us and the hardship we endure. Discipline and determination, Pure strength through solitude, Fighting against all oppositions!"
I'd say pretty much what those before me are saying- My car represents me- Always clean (literally never a finger print on it) and "Clean look" -- I don't do it to win trophies at car shows or anything, but mainly for the simple joy it brings me
And I like to make my car stand out from the crowd, not in a way like "OMG what the hell was that?!?" but in a "wow that's a nice ride" kind of way. (Just hopefully not in an "I wanna steal that car" kinda way haha)

my ultimate goal with the tC is to turn it into a high end street car, thus showing that you don't have to buy into a stupid, overpriced brand name to get a high end driving experience. this means that i upgrade individual parts to add to the luxury performance look and feel. it's getting there slowly.

and as others have said, it's an extension of who i am. modding not only gives me an escape to the problems and tasks around me, but it's also a big part of who i am. it's also nice to not be just another scion, but rather a piece of you that everyone can see and enjoy (hopefully)
what a philisophical idea.
what moves me & my xB is style, comfortablity, and reliablility.
my car has to have lots of space haulin my DJ equiptment around.
I expect 300,000 miles of the life of my xB.
as for function, im more into cosmetic appearance than power.
