I was just driving back from class when I realised... Hey, i'm doing 70... Usual thing I notice when I drive, I guess you can say i'm somewhat of a lead foot. Especially in my tC.
Anyways i'm comin up on this IS300 before this tunnel I always fly through. So I get about 3/4 on the throttle so I don't downshift and waste gas when at the same time i'm haulin' more ___. The IS300 downshifts and guns it... We're doing 85+ through this tunnel with no one in sight, and he is barely pulling on me, I give it about 3-1/2/4 more throttle and i'm right at the guy (still haven't downshifted) when I start to break and he keeps going untill he notices the upcoming cars and lays hard on the breaks.

The dude had a body kit and some half assed Coffee can of a pipe. I'm stock. Now... What do those IS300's pack? Engine size? HP, TQ... Because clearly, if I tried a little harder. It would of been handled.

Note: It was the older kind of Boxy looking IS300 by the way.

 

215 horse I believe, but their gearing sucks horribly. They are 0.1 faster both 0-60 and 1/4 mile than a stock tC.

i dont know if IS's come with a true manual option, but my ex's automatic i've beat from a dig and a 40mph roll by a couple of cars up to 100.

The IS300 has an Inline 6 rated at 215 hp. It is also a Rear wheel drive vehicle. I can tell you as an owner of an IS300 that the dude either F'ed his car up with cheap mods or did't know how to drive it. I love the Scion tC, but I know it can keep up with the IS300 in a legit race. They may keep the same pace for awhile, but anything after about 70, the IS300 shows it's true colors as a sport sedan.

easily twin turbo'd....handle tons of power, i would buy one over my tc.

They did have mt's too, though majority are auto's and I don't think the mt's were much faster.

 

is300 packs more pimpin than the tc and 2 more doors

 

yeah... the IS is just a nicer overall vehicle. I would love to drive one hands down over the tC.

but hey, they're like 5-6k more for the oldest used ones than a brand new tC.

I owned an IS300 back in '01. They've got the 2JZ-GE that is shared with the Supra. The engine is absolutely rock solid and will put down absurd amounts of power.

 

i didnt know that they werent that much faster. an IS tried to race me once but i acted like i didnt see him because i thought he would spank me badly.
