Guess what: There's this thing called personal preference. Perhaps they have brand loyalty to mobile 1 syn, or Royal Purple, or even AMSOIL. Regardless of their reasoning, if people want to put synthetic in their tCs, it shouldn't chap your áss!
whoa...that made no sense @ all - epic fail!!

arkenzo, every post of yours is an EPIC FAIL.
Please, go to a thread where you're with your peers - you're simply out of your element here...

lol. Funny thread.

ScionCya, No Jiffy Lube for me, change my own oil. Also, I wouldnt tell someone else that they are out of the "element" when you yourself are pushing 50. Roughly 20 years over the average age.(18-30). I will be sure to send you some "over the hill" novelty items ina few years! lol.

To everyone else, use what you wish to make you feel "better"m however, just so you know, Castrol GTX is more then plenty to protect your 130whp motor for a LONG, LONG time. Probably longer then you will own the car.

Hence the reason I gave out the "wasting money" line. If high quality dino oil is more then enough to protect our commuter motors(from UOA results), why waste your money on something else?

"To each their own" I guess......

It didnt "chap my @ss".

Just trying to save you guys some money by telling you that our motors do not need synthetic and high quality dino oil is sufficient.

But do whatever the hell you want.

Pushing 50.
Yes.
So?
I missed the part that said to sign up I had to be a young, arrogant douche-bag.
I hope when you're my age, younger folks have a better attitude.

Do us all a favor - don't try to save me money.
I don't spend that much more as I use fewer oil filters.
It's not a waste, and I plan on keeping my car until I give my tC to my son.
When he gets it, it will be in great shape.
Since I make a lot of money, I consider it well-spent.
Don't worry about us - just keep telling yourself that it's the best care for your car.

We will do whatever we want, as will you.

Next.

Yeah, so about the thread itself.... heheh.

I use 5w20 synthetic from Valvoline in my turbo Scion. I'm using the upgrade-version Greddy kit, with the emanage ultimate and bigger injectors, at 9 lbs of boost or so.

I experience a little bit of a rough idle sometimes, but only after hard boosting for a while on the highway.

What do other turbo Scion owners use? I am very curious to know!

You did miss the part at sign up that said "No old grumpy b@astards". When Im your age, I will not being driving a 17k scion bickering with people on the internet, grow up! lol.

And Im not just "telling" myself, UOA back up the claim the GTX is more then enough to protect my 160hp motor. You have a bad habit of making wild assumptions and simply "talking out of your @ss".

Have a great day, you old, senile b@stard! lol.

i just got a new power head put on my 20 yr old johnson 50hp boat motor, and the shop that did it said to run synthetic to prevent gunky build-up, which is what caused the first power head to fail. ok so it's an outboard boat motor, but same principle still applies. and it also does allow a longer running time than conventional.

Here's a tip for everyone:

Check your local kragen for good deals on oil! They always have great deals on regular and synthetic.

They currently have penzoil(non synthetic) for .99 a quart and mobil 1 synthetic for 3.99 a quart.

Keep an eye on the ads, and when the oil you like is on sale, STOCK up.

Well, that we can agree on!
Unless of course you haven't decided which oil you want to stick with.
I'm keeping with RP for now, and maybe will try the Amsoil sometime.
Amsoil sells big jugs and barrels, so if you like it, it can be cheaper.

Probably $5 worth of Pennzoil.
For $80, I better get Lindsay Lohan in the backseat too.

anyone hear about Royal Purple not being good for daily drivers and only good for motors that are being pulled apart all the time?
