Default What other cars are there?

I'm picking up a tC in Flint most likely this weekend, but with these issues about height on this forum, im getting more and more concerned

Im 6" and JUST IN CASE i find the tC uncomfortable, what other cars are there around this price thats sporty as well? I know theres the online comparison with the Tiburon, Civic EX, Eclipse, rsx, but is there anything else?

Thanks for any replies, and i have there are no problems

I've been going crazy these couple of days comparing it to the Honda Accord LX (4 cylinder). I think I've decided to go with the tC though. Also, consider the Mazda 3/6.

The Mazda 6s, Mitsubishi Lancer RalliArt, and Nissan Sentra SE-R Spec V. The Lancer and Sentra can be had for under $16,000 after rebates. You could probably get a Mazda with a few options for high 16s. The Lancer has the most room of any of those cars. The Spec V is the most enjoyable to drive. The Mazda is pretty unremarkable next to the other two.

Hmmm...
The above mentioned alternatives are good...
if price is an issue look at the 04 Neon R/T they have 4k rebates on them making them cheaper than a tC with the same power.
if performance is an issue look at the 04 SRT4, I know around here in SC I have talked to a dealer in the upstate willing to sell one new for 19,500 out the door (all taxes, fees, etc)

you may be able to get a 04 mazda protege 5, or ford focus for a deal.
Tiburons V6 GTare also on sale around by me. (good test drive with the 6spd)
Sentras are nice, almost bought one, definately have to get the SE-R's.
Mitsu has the ralliart, but as a company they are on the edge of going belly up, and none of the other automakers are willing to buy them up...so long term right now is questionable.

other than that....
if you are really hurting $$, there is a Kia dealer out there ready to sell you a car.

Yeah, I'm in the same dilemma. Not because I'm tall though....only 5'9" here. Anyways, I haven't test drove anything yet, so that is my first problem. I'm leaning towards the tC because it fits my price range and I like the styling.

I'm also looking at the Mazda3, since I know people at Ford and they could get me a discount....however, once I loaded one of those up with a moonroof and Navigation system ;) it was over $20,000 (ok, I don't NEED the navigation system I guess)

Also looking at the Tiburon GT V6....since they have a long ___ warranty and it's a V6. Probably get screwed a bit more on insurance though...i will be 25 in August.

I've looked at the Lancer Ralliart, but did not like the styling much....

Also looked at the Pontiac Vibe (I know, totally different car), but I see them around here for like $15,000 or less....

decisions, decisions

*EDIT*
I was just browing AutoTrader and I found a 2002 Acura RSX with 21,000 miles...looks pretty darn clean. It was up for $17,300. Do you think that's a good deal....would you choose it over the tC? (Also has a 10 year dealer warranty)

I came into work this morning to find a white and a black cherry pearl tC. They're being prepped to put on the lot so I haven't driven them yet, but I have played around a little bit in them. I'm 6' and was very comfortable in the driver's seat. I jumped in the back passenger side seat and put the front seat all the way back. My head was about 2" from the ceiling and my knees didn't come close to touching the seat in front of me. With the rear seats reclined a little bit I found it to be pretty comfortable for a coupe. Maybe not something I'd want to take a really long trip in, but not bad. Now I'll just have to see how it rides...

Well I'm 5'10 and I got a chance to drive the tC last week. All I have to say is I loved every bit of the drive. And if the back seat is built to house a 6'2 adult then you should have no problem with height issues in the front. I didn't have any issues with height what-so ever.

You'll fit man. I used to worry about it, but I don't anymore. This won't be a problem.

Sadly there is no car that directly competes to the tC... you won't get as good of a package with the spec V or the ralliart. Trust me, I have friends with both, and they just feel cheap.

Hands down there is no other car I would rather get than the tC for the same amount of money.

....finally got to drive the tC. Wish it would've been a MT but the 2 we got in were both AT, oh well. In any case, the tC is hands down the smoothest, most solid coupe I've ever driven. Before I drove it, I didn't think anything could compare (in the same size class) to the Civic coupe in terms of smoothness and handling, but the tC did it. While not a racecar, the tC has no trouble accelerating. The engine is very smooth and quiet (I'm sure an intake and new headers can fix that), and could easily be mistaken for a small V6. There's a certain road out here which is not the smoothest road to say the least, and driving at 40MPH the suspension handled it very well. The car did not bounce around, and there was no point when I felt like the car was even close to beating me up, even crossing a few railroad tracks. I've read a few posts on here regarding body roll, and how the car feels a little heavy for a coupe. Folks, we're not talking about an S2000 or an RX-8. For the size of the car the handling is very agile and steering is very predictable. I drive various types of cars every day and while there are a couple (smaller) cars out there that turn a little sharper, the tC has no trouble taking turns and curves at high speeds. I'll mention again, this car is not a racecar. Think of it more as a scaled-down, 2-door IS-300. For the tuners out there, this car does have serious potential. Can't wait for the MT.

At 6-foot I don't think you'd have a problem, but IMO it depends more on how you like to position the seat when you're driving/riding. In general though, reviews have been pretty positive in regards to headroom and legroom.

As an alternative to the tC I'm also looking at the Mazda 3s. With AT, moonroof/6CD package, and sport package (17" wheels, side extensions), you can get it for about the same price as the AT tC after haggling with the Mazda dealer (maybe a little more $$$ than the tC). The tC is my first choice right now (have yet to see it, haven't driven either). I like the tC styling, the fact that it's a Toyota, and the price a little better than the 3s.

Never driven out there so who knows, but it seems to me like it could keep it's smooth ride in some not-so-smooth conditions.

And they will both hand the TC it's nads everytime performance wise. If the TC had the torque of either one of those cars there would be a TC in my garage right now... but as good as this car is they are not very realsitic about it's HP/TQ #s
