Default What's the purpose of this?

The opening on the sides of the lower grille. I know it could be "style". Fog lights go in the lower grille. I know on some cars openings like those are air ducts for the brakes, I know they're not for the tC tho.

I want to put driving lights on my car. I want to put amber ones, like these:

They shine like this:

I know they look so 90s but I like them over the blue or white ones since they make street and highway signs much easier to read. I'm thinking if I can mount them to where the red circle is on my picture above.

Anyone done something like that?

all scions are made to be "personalized"

they made it that way so u can personalize it yourself with your own fogs, etc

They are just for looks.... that's it... you can modify them with is fogs, or add those you listed above if you wish... It'd be fun to convert them into brake ducts though

Thanks

Anyways, I know I could mount them behind the grille, but I don't know what material the grille is. If it's some sort of plastic, and not metal, it might melt it.

I would like to see that done! I feel the OE foglights should be placed there.

I've also mounted fog lights on a car I had before, but since I mounted them on the plastic bumper, every bump on the road would knock the lights out of alignment. When I look at the front of my car, it looks like it has lazy eye syndrome.

I agree with WeDriveScions, it would be fun to use them as break ducts. I have seen others use the same time of look for an oil/tranny cooling radiator.

I attatched my fogs on the side vents. I kinda regret drilling holes in my bumper, but the lights make the tC look MUCH better compared to OEM fogs. I would suggest making a bracket so you can mount them behind the vent.

well your in luck then, because they do have differant color plates that you install for your tc to cool off your breaks. i take it you have to cut a hole then screw the plate over it. ill sort thru my files to find the site

Ya i just posted a similar topic a few days ago stating the same stuff. The covers are pointless and hurt the aerodynamics.

if a company were to mass produce a fitted fog light for that area thats not all riced out they'd have a big hit...even if it were riced out it'd prob still be a hit.

As long as it's amber.

It may look "tacky" but I can read signs a mile away

or a setup with the housing to replace the stock plastic piece with interchanging front panels or something to change the color to clear/blue for hyper white/amber. that'd be nice! or just clear w/ diff fog bulbs!

some cheap looking halos or something, or a blinging enclosure i'd guess. They are good at messing up things that should be cool.
